For: I wanna KeyPick 100
This game to me is a bundle of great ideas put in a project doomed from the start. If you've played Stage 7 in Gaze at the Horizon, then this game uses the same gimmick: collect keys and open doors until you unlock the exit. You get 99 floors of this, and a small boss at the end to round things out.

The highlights here are without question the different gimmicks. I honestly never thought it would be possible to add interesting elements to key counting puzzles, but there's a good amount of interesting mechanics that get added throughout the floors. Stuff like 0-key doors, door mutations, or my personal favorite, master keys. They're great and add new layers of thinking to a very basic puzzle idea. The difficulty curve is also pretty nice: starts off very very simple and slowly progresses throughout the levels with more key colors, and more mechanics.

Sadly, 100 floors of counting keys is just not something that would ever work out. Puzzles get very repetitive and come down to adding more keys and more doors and a lot of the screen layouts get re-used in slightly different ways. The last 20 floors are major offenders of this, as most of them are the exact same screen layout but with different colors and key amounts. Some of the more interesting gimmicks only get added very late into the game, too: the first interesting gimmick really only comes around on floor 50, halfway through the game. On top of that, there's an insane amount of back and forth that needs to be done to solve single puzzles sometimes. Open a door, walk all the way across the screen to get a new key, walk back to open another door and get a new key, walk back again to open a door, etc. Puzzles will often take several minutes to solve, even if you already know the solution. It's extremely tedious and will make things quite boring sometimes. A final, minor complaint is that I wish the boss would've been more keypick oriented, instead of being a regular boss with a slight keypick element. It feels like it was put there for the sake of rounding things out instead of being a good addition to the game.

All in all, I can't say I'm too displeased with this. I still ended up playing it all the way through and there's definitively good elements in this, but it could've been much better. If the game's length was severely reduced, and the gimmicks were properly spread throughout, then I think this game could be really great. As it is now, I'm not sure I would recommend it.

Likely my favorite thing to come out of this contest. A great story, the concept of mini-levels is really well done, the humor is top notch (one specific joke still makes me laugh just remembering it) and the traps are all excellent. Some of the platforming felt a little tedious, mostly due to the spiders and timing, but it's a minor issue when looking at the greats this game has to offer. Highly recommend to just about anyone.

Wow, this game is really good. Definitively not something you'd expect to see from a month of development, even from Mattin. He really went beyond himself for this one.

This has the same great production value I've come to expect from Mattin, and it really nails the "spooky castle" atmosphere everywhere. There's a lot of different enemies and gimmicks that come together to make the platforming interesting, most rooms end up feeling very unique. The HP bar definitively helps to make all this work together, as you never feel afraid to take a risk and get close to a new enemy, or do a jump more quickly without too much fear of failure. All the little details are great, too: stuff like the kid's gun needing to reload after some bullets, the Iron Maiden teleporters, all the backtracking being fairly painless, etc. Finally, most of the bosses are fantastic too, and are the highlights of my playthrough for sure.

I do have some slight hiccups with a few things, but they're pretty minor. I thought the final boss felt slightly rushed on the main attacks (the intermissions were fantastic), one boss in particular seemed a lot harder than anything else this game had to offer, and the hook mechanic was a little too finicky at times for my tastes.

That being said, do not let this detract you from playing this game. It's a wonderful experience and you will not regret the time you spend playing.

I honestly never thought I would see serious puzzles in fangames, but Kurath proved me completely wrong with this. This is probably the best mix of fangame platforming and puzzles you'll ever get to play. There's 10 different puzzle types and 10 puzzles for each, going in an increasing order of difficulty. You'll have to think pretty hard to solve some of the later puzzles for each type. As a puzzle guy, I honestly had a great time with pretty much everything, and even went back to replay some puzzles to find new solutions. There's a lot of stuff on top of the puzzles, too. Customizable character skins and stage themes, a great soundtrack, the fact you can play the puzzle types in any order, and even some pretty crazy bonus content. A maze generator, a chess avoidance and a pretty serious tower defense game you can spend hours on. There's nothing else I could ask of a puzzle fangame in my opinion, and that's why this gets a solid 10 from me. Everyone needs to give this a shot.

Read title. It's nice and short, nothing more, nothing less. Visuals are great and not tiring on the eyes. Would recommend to just about anyone, even if some saves are a little challenging.
