Not good game with pretty terrible production value, poor screen design, and really boring bosses.

A good collection of eight gimmick stages plus a final area and boss. Not every gimmick lands and there are many frustrating trolls that don't add value to the gameplay, but it's solid overall. Would recommend for a blind race.

Make the Novelty consists of a variety of stages which can be done in any order you like, each featuring their own little theme and a little boss to round things off.

Some personal highlights for me are the black/white stage which plays on the visual theme pretty well, and I also had a lot of fun with the screenwrap climb which just felt like some very relaxing and enjoyable platforming. The autorun stage is also a standout in both platforming and boss. Some are a little less interesting whether it be the somewhat boring visuals or uninteresting platforming, but nothing ever felt badly designed or unbalanced. I guess the Asahi boss caused me some grief which even had me relying on cherry-align strats, something I can't really recommend to others.

I always enjoy games with variety and getting to experience a range of completely different stages, and whilst not every stage felt overly polished or original, I had a fun time all the way throughout. I'm curious to see how the 2nd Novelty game improves on the concept!

Lenghty needle with 8 areas with a boss in each then a final one. It's for me a mixed bag, some are good and interesting, some are bad. Make your own opinion, I'm just gonna say that I don't understand how the background of stage 8 have been approved by the testers.

I have to mimick Leinaps' review: it is not very interesting overall, but in average. If we consider individual segments, half of them are terrific, being Stage 3 a great highlight. Most visual designs are decent and there's a lot of work behind, but the platforming is generic most of the times (except for Stages 3 and 4) and the bosses are, well, quite bad for my taste. Not a single one was memorable except for Tom & Jerry in which you have to endure the gimmick of not being able to stop running.

A plus for it, though, is that every stage is different not only in design, but also in gimmick usage, but not every time was effective, such as the extremely short puzzle solving of Stage 2 or the infinite jump section of World 6, which was quite unoriginal.

Difficulty curve is also all over the place regardless of the Stages you choose (do yourself a favor and leave Stage 3 for the ending, which features the best song and is quite exciting to escalate regardless of, ironically, the lack of a gimmick).

Recommended for a single playthrough. The variety is nice, but you will be mostly disappointed in the bosses department.
