The sequel to I wanna try a Collab 1, a long time in the making. A ton of work went into making and polishing this game, we hope you guys enjoy it!
Keep in mind that this game is quite a bit harder than Collab 1, and is definitely NOT a beginner game.
Additionally, we're still fine-tuning and fixing some of the balance in the game, so if you have any suggestions feel free to let us know.

Collab 2 is an above average game that succeeds in enthralling the player with diverse, unique, and fun needle/avoidance/bosses but suffers in keeping a consistent and steadily rising difficulty curve. Some of the stages felt completely out of place due to certain rooms or fights that stuck out. It seemed as if some rooms were really free while others were unnecessarily difficult. While I did enjoy some of the game, I had trouble being patient with the game for many reasons.

Aside from issues in game, my biggest issue with the game was the sheer size of it. This isn't saying that the game is too long, but the sheer amount of attention to adding seemingly unnecessary sprites and other content that caused my computer to lag constantly eventually led to me quitting the game at Mr. Bones' Wild Ride. I bore with playing the game with constant fps fluctuations and actually enjoyed most of the rooms that did contain some lag. However, the deaths that were because of such lag stacked up and eventually ran my patience thin. Rooms like xElectic Mountains and the room with the Eye from Super Mario 64 were borderline unplayable due to the amount of sprites and general shit on screen and other screens took WAY longer than they needed compared to any average player.

Yes, it is unfair to criticise a game for a hardware issue. However, I cannot have fun with a game if it cannot run properly. I hoped to see a light version release in order to quell my frustration with the game; alas, it never came and will probably never come. Thus, I saw no need to play the game if it meant playing the game on a fluctuating frame rate. Regardless of my issues, the game is decent and can be good with some balancing and difficulty nerfs (which have come and might surface in the future) but in my mind, its a borderline subpar game that has its bad things outweigh the good. It's unfortunate to see that I cannot finish what is to many a great game (and with no frame issues, I probably would've given the game around an 8) and see what else each maker had to offer, but when I'm limited like this, I only have so many options. I'm patient with most things in fangames, but if the game's performance suffers, then there's no need to be patient in the first place.

Nonetheless, I would recommend this game to all players who have some experience in fangames and implore all who do play to play as many stages as possible. You will enjoy it as I did before lag became too much to deal with.

Edit: I had heard recently that a light version was going to be released but will not due to how much of a workload that would be. I appreciate the consideration and understand that its not really worth if it helps 1 or 2 people. Thanks anyways :D

Edit: Shortly after this review went up, an update went out that addressed many of the issues with early levels that I had. I will be re-evaluating this reviews score. For reference, my score was a 5.6 previously.

Put considerable time in to everything in the first 41 levels before I called it quits for now. There are portions of each stage remaining for me that are just too obnoxious for various reasons. Using a per-level scale of 0 = Awful, 1 = Needs Improvement, 2 = Solid, I added up the score for each level and got the rating for this review.

-Various Thoughts-
Bosses/Avoidances; Generally uninspired, boring attacks. Every boss has attacks that are easy filler and at least one attack that really needs balance tweaks with the exception of 2-6 and 3-10 which are great. The lesser ones are still -okay-, they just collectively need work in a few areas.

Platforming/Needle; Mostly solid but many stages are marred by a single save, jump, or design decision that makes them more frustrating than fun.

Trap Stages; All around the best content I've seen in the game. Fun, not too obnoxious, perfect length for each one.

Art; There are way too many stages where the art blends together too much, is very distracting, or is just straight poorly implemented.

I don't know where to start... So i'm started the game, cleared the 1st stage and i feel like creators didn't learn at all. Same hurting mistakes, same amount of garbage. I quit it after first stage by the way, 'cause i'm feeling it's not gonna go well. This is worse than the first one. I'm not gonna give it any rating, 'cause i'm quit it, but if i had to, i'd give it a 1/10. Have a few examples: first avoidance is visually unbearable, so much stuff going on and bullets quite frequently didn't noticeable, WIP area is suffering from bad visuals as well (low part of the level is tedious to look at), KTG boss fight have four(!) phases and most attacks are RNG-dependent, "boshy" sound is annoying, last phase has way too much HP and luck-based attack as well. And it's just a beginning of the game. I mean, it's so obvious and no one gonna do anything about it. Needle was OK (just like in the previous one).
For me, this thing takes place near shitty K3 clones, just as frustrating and pointless as they are. And i wondering why these people can make a good game on their own and can't make one with assistance. I'm trying to be as gentle as i am, but this game really takes frustration to the whole new place, and i'm sorry if i'm offending you, but this is my honest feelings about this game. Maybe i am the problem, maybe this game is highly overrated, but this is how it is, take it as you wish

Overall this is a great game with a ton of variety and content and worth a look for any experienced player. In actuality though, its a little more complicated than that.

Production is at a high level throughout and I like that most of the 'meme' stuff was generally quarantined either in the side content or the 'clear screens'. The quality of visuals and audio/music was great which was impressive given the sheer quantity and variety of it.

Gameplay wise, it was a lot less clear cut though.

Platforming wise (needle, gimmick, trap screens) it was amazing. There was hardly a weak spot and it was a good balance throughout. The needle screens you could see the changing style in each room and it was refreshing since needle can run the risk of feeling repetitive. The gimmicks were a mixed bag of different things, offering great variety and interesting applications - between basic stuff with a new twist and weird and wacky things, it felt well thought out and well applied. Trap sections felt varied as well, mixing it up between having a central obstacle or being sprinkled with little oddities along the way.

The bosses were another interesting point. Individually, I wouldn't say they were all good but the variety was astonishing. I felt like each time I entered a boss room that I'd really not know what to expect and there was a ton of cool stuff. I certainly didn't love them all but it was easy to appreciate the creativity that the format offered. My gripe here was that a ton of them felt medley style and I'm personally not a fan of that, where things like the punchout fight, TMNT or reality brea felt great because of a consistent theme and slick execution, some of the others felt like it was just tossing random crap at you. Still, they served as a nice range and the bosses were all enjoyable because of that.

Unfortunately the last two categories is where the game takes a total nosedive. The avoidances individually were probably all alright, but my god were they homogeneous. After completing the game, only two of them really stood out to me (thankfully one of which was the required final boss avoidance, the other being knuckles) as being slightly different. I thought to myself that I must be misremembering, so I went back through all of them looking for something that wasn't electronic music with fast rng coming at you on a flat surface at the bottom of the room (okay, inf jump was a little different but it didn't really feel much). It was literally every one of them (as knuckles was barely different from a gameplay perspective, just aesthetic). Not only that but they all had felt out of place difficulty wise. If you had them all individually out of the game, they're probably pretty solid (but there's already hundreds of them just like them) but in the game it was a huge detraction from the game. Every single one of them felt like it hurt the gameplay flow because of the time spent (until I stopped even bothering) and it was a huge disservice to the format because it felt like the huge amount of creativity and variety offered by the format went straight out the window so that someone could churn out another fast barrage.

Finally the +1 stages, I knew I wasn't going to like them going in but the truth was there's actually some good stuff in here. If you had cut out a couple of the middle rooms out of each of these you could've had another good gimmick stage from each of them, but instead every single one had to be coated with some boring filler initially and some intense visual aids along the way. Just because something is known colloquially as a shitstack, doesn't mean you actually have to stack shit on it, this format could've been done so much better.

Overall I'd still recommend any experienced player to give this a play as there is still a ton of great content in here, but play the parts you like - trying to be completionist about it did not feel rewarding. Its unfortunate you have to sift through some garbage to find the great parts but there are a ton of great parts that you don't want to miss.
