For: A Minimal Adventure
This was an enjoyable shortventure mainly based around needle'ish platforming and using a few simple gimmicks here and there to enhance it. The minimalist aesthetic was easy on the eyes, although I preferred the visuals in stage 2 (also my favourite stage in the game). You pull off the VVVVVV style very well, with both the level design and the extra touches such as the title texts and visuals feeling polished. I also particularly liked the stage 3 screens where the single/double jump star gimmicks were used, although on a small note I felt the save sound effect in stage 3 was noticeably louder than everything else. For the most part though the audio was without issues.
The ending did feel very abrupt, and I wished there was some sort of finale to cap it off, be it a boss or perhaps a final stage/tower with the mixed-stage tile style you used in your final screen (which I'm always a fan of). I couldn't really find a way to tie the game to the shortventure theme either, although that didn't detract from my enjoyment.
Ultimately it's a nice little game with some pretty fun segments. I would've liked to have seen more variety in the design of the early stage or perhaps something a bit unusual to make it more memorable in parts. A nice entry though and congratulations on making your first adventure! Hopefully we see more if you're feeling up to it.

For: We Live Under The Stairs
Under the Stairs is a fangame not quite like any other. It borders on experimental with the things you may experience and for the Shortventure 2018, it nailed the theme of 'Fear' above all other submissions. I opted to not put my judge review for this, as I feel the less information you have going into it the better. Do know however that it's an eerie adventure telling the tale of the whimsical hijinks of a wacky family and their surroundings.
Sort of what you'd expect from Wookie, although don't expect a typical platforming adventure here. No doubt this game will be quite divisive due to the somewhat slow and different nature of the game, but I was a fan.

For: I wanna play Kiduija
Mattin delivers an amazing adventure game yet again. This is one of a couple entries which replicates the survival-horror atmosphere that I really enjoy, and searching around this giant mansion looking for keys, powerups and other items makes for a fun time. This is further complemented by the menu system, something I'm glad to see in this style of game. The level design in particularly felt really solid and well thought-out all the way through, and there were no weird difficulty bumps or questionable saves. There werwe also a variety of bosses, each completely different visually and conceptually but all equally creative and engaging to play. The final boss in particular is a stand-out, and whilst I'd have like to have seen perhaps more attacks in the shooty phase or just have that phase last a little less time, it made for a really intense finale. The production value was very impressive too, from the parallax background effects to the clean and slick tilesets, it's just all-around a great production.
As mentioned earlier, I'd have liked to have seem the final boss have a few more attacks in the shooty phase, perhaps an series of enrage attacks. I liked how in the Brain boss one of the attacks "enraged" upon breaking the glass, and it's something I wish was in all of the bosses as it makes the fights more intense and exciting. It's not a major thing though, and one of the small things I can really pick out. I did get a tiny bit lost at the end when looking where to put the 2 items, as I hadn't noticed that segment was examinable.
From small things like the well-designed flow of the environment and the attention to detail on sound effects, to the creative level design and fun boss variety, Kiduija makes for a really memorable adventure game. Great stuff as always Mattin!

As mentioned earlier, I'd have liked to have seem the final boss have a few more attacks in the shooty phase, perhaps an series of enrage attacks. I liked how in the Brain boss one of the attacks "enraged" upon breaking the glass, and it's something I wish was in all of the bosses as it makes the fights more intense and exciting. For: I wanna go across the Crimson Rainbow
Crimson Rainbow takes The Kid on a journey through the many different shades of Crimson, each with a daring and different needle design than the last. All the way throughout, this stays at a pretty high quality and makes for a very enjoyable needle experience.
As the name would imply, the visuals and atmosphere borrow somewhat heavily from Crimson, although the needle design is distinctive and unique, as expected from ケール. My favourite stage was the blue stage which had a very fun assortment of jumps, utilizing water and aesthetically pleasing manoeuvres to compliment the difficulty of the game, although I also really enjoyed the orange stage especially the cherry-infested screens. There were a couple rough saves in difficulty, although these were primarily at the beginning and the end of the game in the red and pink areas respectively.
The music used is quite interesting in the sense that one second you'll be drifting away in needle bliss, and the next second you'll have your ears turned inside out by a washing machine that's swimming halfway underneath a lake. Despite this, it made for a memorable experience for better or for worse.
Would definitely recommend if you have a needle itch, as the variety of styles underneath some solid design makes for a very satisfying needle game!

For: I Wanna Kill the Kermit 3
Kermit 3 is the third and seemingly final entry in the beloved Kermit series, and it delivers just about all you can expect and hope for given the last couple of games, as well as a little bit more.
Like the previous game in the series, Kermit 3's flow progresses via a series of hubs with widely varied worlds in theme and style. Wonderful's classic music choices make their staple appearances and support the aesthetics a great deal, alongside some surreal or sometimes simplistic tilesets and backgrounds. Each stage brings something a little different, although some of my personal favourites include the limited-jump stage mapped onto a parchment-like aesthetic, or the multi-coloured collect-athon RNG area which felt like it was very much prone to RNG shenanigans and yet never actually became frustrating. A special shout-out goes to Kale's guest area too, featuring some very interesting segments including a spinning gravity flipper segment which is actually somewhat skippable, but absolutely worth doing the intended way as it's very well thought out and designed.
A big part of the Kermit series is the bosses too, and without any worry you can expect to be fighting all sorts of lovable faces here, ranging from a Kermit-Destination of sorts, to an electrifying encounter with Big Bird to of course, good ol' Kermit himself. On that note, the final boss is about as good as you can hope for, with an ending you're sure to remember. I was also very fond of the difficulty of the bosses in the game, which most of the time felt like a step-down difficulty wise to the challenging platforming alongside it. I struggle to think of a boss that felt frustrating or perhaps overly hard, and they just felt on point in every stage.
A couple of segments here and there feel almost a bit too much in terms of challenge, and could've maybe done with some toning down in terms of precision or allowed leniency. A popular hotspot I've heard complained about is a particular timed ice-platforming segment, although I found a little more frustration with a low gravity segment. There's definitely some rough patches, so don't expect a smooth ride. Kermit wouldn't let you through that easily.
All around, Kermit 3 is a very memorable adventure; a journey that demands a fair deal of skill to overcome the tasks this lovable amphibian throws at you, but one that you won't soon forget.
