lacking platforming with lame traps, unfun needle that randomly inserts hard jumps and two bossfights of which one is terrible and the other is pretty good
the guy rock stage isn't anything too special. the traps are somewhat unpredictable but that gets boring after a few screens. there's a weird secret area that puts you into a precision needle-ish room with some generic hard jumps (i.e. corners, diamonds, planes, etc). this secret area gives you an item that lets you access the EX boss (which I'll get to later). long story short, this item is actually worth collecting.
the second stage has some generic platforming that's considerably harder than the first stage’s. this stage entirely lacks traps or anything interesting for that matter and is just boring needle with a few notably difficult jumps. there's some weird squished diagonal crap in the middle of this stage and that got quite annoying quite fast.
the taisa fight sucks, frankly. the camera effects are annoying and a lot of the attacks are unfun to read (i.e. the entire infinite jump segment). the bouncing purple orbs attack at the end of the infinite jump segment is almost completely luck. at least the dot hitbox is very very forgiving, as bullets seem to vstring straight through you sometimes.
the EX boss is the only thing worth playing in this game. designed in a way a lot unlike the taisa fight, it only has a somewhat luck-based/unreadable intro, but other than that it really doesn’t suffer from any of the same problems the taisa fight does. this boss is fun and has some fun fast-paced attacks that don't get old almost instantly. there's one bullshit part (the rapidly bouncing orbs), and immediately after that the blue orbs that burst out. they're not really bullshit but just kinda hard to read for whatever
reason. the rest of the fight is pretty fun and skill-based
leaves quite a lot to be desired, game should be like three times longer. not recommended

in my wholesome opinion, this game is overrated and I frankly don't get the hype around it. sure the atmosphere is nice and the needle is something I can get behind and enjoy, the music is nice too, but it's nothing too special. definitely a memorable game, but isn't really anything I'd recommend so highly as some people in the reviews here would.
the needle itself is nothing too interesting, with one fairly simple and short precision area that was somewhat more fun, however quite easy - as I first tried a good chunk of the saves in said area. the other consistency needle screens are sometimes flawed - as they have some odd choke-ish jumps. these, realistically speaking, aren't that hard but still leave somewhat of a bad taste in your mouth.
needle doesn't have to be interesting to be fun, it can just be plain and simple fun, which this game accomplishes to some degree

fantastic needle game, on the more precise side for sure. tons upon tons of really fun and intriguing jumps with only maybe two bad saves in the entire game. doesn't abuse named jumps far too often and doesn't abuse typical butterfly nova cancer too much (i.e. 24px vertical landings, those vine gates, the distinctive shurikens though they do appear quite often, etc.) I like the idea of dividing each stage by difficulty - however the difficulties are very distinct: medium is 60ish, hard is low 70s, very hard is in the 70s.
my only complaints are that 1 - the very hard stage has two saves that are somewhat annoying; and 2 - the one-jump screens are often very easy and don't require almost anything difficult. there was one jump (the other hades double plane, the hourglass looking one) that looked like a 1f that confused me at first but turns out was a very simple 2f.
ashotovka stage is fun and easy with somewhat longer saves than the other areas
dudos stage is the easiest except the one apple align save which took about as long as the entire rest of the stage. the align grab is somewhat hard and requires some pretty precise movement. the save itself isn't that hard after that, though
zorgo stage is quite a bit harder than the medium areas, starting off with even the first save being quite rough. this one has a lot of especially interesting maneuvers and precise jumps. 3rd save on the 2nd screen is the hardest save in the game and is solely difficult due to the several 24px vertical gaps, and also the first jump requiring a certain not-so-strict (but still required) vstring to be able to 3f properly. the rest of the stage is fine
P2 stage is my favorite stage - it has the most interesting jumps in my opinion. every save feels meticulously crafted and I feel encapsulates how these games should well and truly feel. never really struggled with anything too bad except screen 3 save 2, even then after learning the general idea behind the 24px, I didn't take much longer to beat it after that.
maxim stage is often shit on for being much harder than the rest of the game, when it realistically isn't that much harder. I got through this stage in a solid 30 minutes, while zorgo stage took about an hour due to the one really difficult save and the save after it. there is one annoying save which I only found annoying because I choked the last jump 10+ times (screen 2 save 3). the rest, however, is not balanced too well since screen 2 saves 2 and 3 carry the difficulty by a good amount.
overall, fantastic collab game centered around a genre of needle that is somewhat underappreciated. highly recommended!

chill miku avoidance with some nice attacks that are never too hard. makes for a quick and easy clear. fight is very fair and you rarely seem to get walled, only the aimed cherry attack near the beginning can wall you if aimed improperly.
