If this game was free, this would have gotten a 10/10. However, the standards for 7 dollars is higher.

*Haven't actually beaten the game completely, but I'm a little over halfway into it*

It definetly feels like an Erik game. The strongest point is the character design which is incredibly cute and interesting. This has always been Erik's strong point and this game definetly benefits from that.
The areas are unique and fun to experience. They look visually distinct from each other and have their own set of gimmicks.
I found the platforming to be fun, though nothing really special. There were saves I enjoyed greatly, but none of them really felt all that interesting.

Now to the things I think could be better:
Sound design is NOT GOOD. The game feels very quiet and a lot of things feel like they're missing sounds. Killing enemies is especially bad in this regard cause it almost doesn't have any impact. Certain enemies don't have sounds when the fire projectiles, sometimes the sound that is there doesn't match at all with the action made. Having more sounds would improve the game so much.
Music is meh. I wish it was more catchy, but it ended up being pretty forgettable. The boss tracks also feel really quiet, which doesn't add to the excitement.
Parrallax backgrounds would have helped the game as well, making the areas feel more interesting and real. I didn't notice any parrallax backgrounds during what I've played.
Some saves felt too long, these were especially irritating when they included platforming over bottomless pits or instakill spikes. These saves are sometimes also drawn out with enemies.
The game is more liniar than I first expected. You can do stuff in any order, but each of the worlds are pretty liniar, with not much to find in them outside of chests. I wish there would have been more ways to enter each zone.

I'd still give it a light recommendation, but I didn't have as much fun as I had hoped.

Edit: Changed my rating to give an extra point, I think the previous rating were a bit harsh.

very bad because it costs, thats why i give it a 6/10 right now!

Jokes aside, I haven't read the reviews on this before (until now) and I'm just sad that people taking the "price/the game costs" as a critism. If you think it's not worth the money, see it as support so I can continue making games in the future. (also non-fangames)

Seven dollars on steam... I really wanted to buy those 20+ ice creams >:(

but about the game its pretty good in general in your style but if it was free it will definitely get a better rating from me. Tho the platforming and bosses was good but the sounds and music was really bad. Also for some reason music was only playing in my right ear.

Very neat game by Erik, that for once you can buy on steam. This game has a metroidvania-esque overworld where you must use powerups found by beating some of the bosses to scale certain parts of the levels, and also find optional chests containing your buddies that have been kidnapped. While I guess this game could be considered a fangame, I am not entirely sure I would agree with that, as it feels like its own game apart from the engine feeling similar to a fangame engine. While some could say the game is really short for its price (it took me about 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach the credits), I remember the days of paying $30 for an arcade game port on consoles. Those games would average about 30 minutes to an hour, and you were encouraged to replay the games and get better at them since they were so much fun. ScribbleDude is not only designed with this in mind, but it is also fun enough to be the sort of game I can see myself replaying over and over again. The many achievements encourage mastery of the game, both in finding all the optional chests, and deathless achievements. If you feel that you didn't get enough out of the game, go for the achievements, I assure you they will at least double your time, if not triple it.
