One of my favourite fangames, all difficulties were fun, I only disliked the Ghosts 'n' Goblins screen, very mediocre, but the rest was really good, lots of cool mechanics and stuff, and the extra stage needle was really fun. Gravityman is an amazing boss, so much better than the K2 version, the fourth phase is so much more tolerable here, granted the final phase is really hard, but the boss was equally as fun as the rest of the game. There's no reason not to play this, if you're a newbie or just suck a lot, play on medium, for a simple slightly challenging game, play on hard and if you're looking for an interesting challenge, very hard mode is the way to go.

Rating is based on Very Hard, which is the only way to access the true final stage and boss (I imagine Medium would be around the 30-40 range).

Popularity is a very wacky and varied game, boasting a collection of stages centering around a particular theme or game, such as an I Wanna be the Guy stage or a Kirby ball stage. Some stages are very gimmick heavy, and will have you rolling around a Kirby ball by shooting arrow buttons or using your mouse to guide The Kid through a daring selection of hazards, whereas others are more classic platforming orientated with traps sprinkled throughout. Not all of the stages hit the spot, and the mouse stage on hardest difficulty I found to be really unpleasant to go through, although at a glance it seems monumentally simplified on easier difficulties, so probably more enjoyable there. Still, I particularly enjoyed the platforming-centric stages, and I got a chuckle or two out of some of the traps or zany design.

The bosses are pretty interesting, ranging from a Nyan-cat Mario-themed avoidance, a matching memory game and a very peculiar Dragon Quest avoidance-of-sorts with a 1 minute intro, perfect for those minesweeper or GeoGuessr enthusiasts to take a break after each death. Most players will be familiar with Gravity Man, the true final boss of the Very Hard difficulty. It's an incredibly learn-heavy fight that puts a great deal of focus on your shot timing, safe spots and reacting to the many peanuts he has at his disposal. I intended to do this by following a video, but I ended up having a lot of fun learning it with my own strats (which, ended up being close enough to video strats anyway, I guess there's only so much variance you can get if you start on a particular screen side).

It's ultimately a game that I think would probably be much more enjoyable on the Medium or Hard difficulties. Very Hard buffs things to questionable levels to the point where the fun starts to leak out and leave only frustration. Still, it has some high points and a very broad variety of content, and it is cool to see so many changes (and even new screens, a stage and a boss) on the higher difficulties. I appreciate a lot of elements of this game, even if I wasn't the biggest fan of it.

To preface this I beat this game on medium mode, because I’m lazy. Although maybe I’ll go back and beat this game again on hard or something.

Popularity is a pretty fun and simple adventure game, it has 5 stages (6 if you’re playing on very hard) and a boss at the end of each. It’s pretty chill for the most part, with the stages and bosses usually being based on retro games or other fangames. Some have gimmicks, like the Kirby’s Dream Course stage, or the Tribute stage with you having to move the kid with your mouse. While the game is quite simple and chill on medium the difficulty ramps up really fast if you play on hard or very hard. Stages are changed, sometimes with whole new screens or brutal buffs, sometimes to a ludicrous degree. Read wolfi’s review if you wanna know how painful very hard is.

All in all based on my medium mode runs, it’s a pretty fun adventure with some good charm. It’s worth at least one play through I think.

I Wanna Be The Popularity is only popular because of K2's popularity, ironically. The game merely consists of 4 stages with less production and entertainment values than I Wanna Be The GB, the second one consisting of a gimmick that must move the kid with the mouse, featuring an atrocious detection box.

The Dragon Quest adventure, however, is somewhat funny, and the fight is... bizarre. Overall, this game is horrible, but the Mega Man designs look quite decent, which is only one screen to access all other stages excluding the intro screen.

Well, it's one screen if you go for the easiest difficulty, which is quite the breeze. However, you must play the Very Hard mode to unlock one of the most (in)famous bosses in fangaming history: Gravity Man. Currently, that is my task. The game is nightmarishly modified with hundreds of spikes and unthinkable jumps. Add to that additional screens. This is only getting worse and worse in entertainment value, but I am doing this for the sake of a legendary segment which many claim to be rewarding, including the boss, which is credited to be an extreme experience. I'm looking forward to the reward.
