Way easier than it looks. There's an weird balancing thing going on where some saves require hard jumps or cancels like the steak jump at the last screen while others require you to do some simple jumps like the last save of the first screen.

Good game.
However, Patchouli's Undine Princess spell(BLUE PHASE 2) and the final spell are 2 hard 4 me.
Besides, I can promise that THE SPIKE CONVEYOR is THE BEST THING you can see in Scapegoat and Prism. Just to mention.

Ratings based on everything before the final avoidance because, let's face it, I'll probably never clear it. Avoidance is just not for me, and this one seems particularly difficult compared to what I've managed to scrape through.
This game is incredible. It took me a very long time to get through it (again, ignoring the final avoidance) but I've loved about 51 out of the 63.5 hours I've spent on this game.
That said, the game has some problem segments which really stick out and bog down the experience a lot. While I did particularly enjoy a lot of segments, the ones that were more memorable were certainly the ones that I did not enjoy.
Here I will very harshly detail the segments I really actually just fucking hated:
OK Actually just fuck screen 42. I get it, it's very close to the end so it's gonna be harder, but actually just fuck that screen. The save is super long, and has an actual ton of jumps that suck really hard to die to. Everything up until the gravity flip/trigger is fine, but every jump after that can suck my ass.
The first two screens of the right path in 3X. They're both really long and full of annoying jumps, especially the second screen. There honestly aren't any specific problem jumps in the first screen, they all just add up to be really tedious. But the second screen is littered with them. The invert, and the T-bone and beyond are bundo as hell.
The Jungle boss. Just no.
Screen 22. For the most part, this stage was OK, but it definitely had some parts I really disliked. The first save is pretty awkward and claustrophobic, but not too bad. The second save is a real doozy. This save made me stop playing the game for like, two months. The terrible camera is really the downfall of this save. Everything after the diagonal is very annoying. Especially the second last jump.
Screen 20 is weird. I liked it a fair amount, it was pretty fun, but it was quite the large spike in difficulty compared to everything before it. Also fuck that stupid moving fruit that does literally nothing aside from making you wait. Doesn't affect the jump at all, it's just there to slow you down.
Also this segment doesn't even come close to the same category as the previously mentioned ones; I'm just too lazy to make another spoiler segment: The water save. It was very intimidating from watching others play it. It looked like complete ass and I was expecting it to be my least favorite part of the game, but I ended up enjoying the save a lot! It was a bit frustrating at times, but that comes down to my own fault and not the game's. There's nothing really bad about the save. The troll at the very end is hilarious. I knew something like it happened going into it but I couldn't remember, and I had a good giggle at it anyway.
But yeah, this game is sick. The visuals are simple but get the job done, which I really dig as an aesthetic. The music is actually fucking AMAZING. If you enjoy needle (and are VERY good at it (which I am not)), definitely check it out. It's extremely creative and oozes personality.
No, Donald isn't nearly as bad as everyone says. I sincerely disagree with people saying it's cancer. :~)

I wanna be the Guy:Gaiden is not actually a fangame, but in reality it's an actual sequel from the original creator Kayin. So does this game live up to the expectation? Not really.
First of all, as you've probably seen from the tags that I've used this game is unfinished. The game right now consists of 3 stages and a map ala Super Mario World. Each stage is different in its own way but most if not all of them consist of exploring one gimmick. That gimmick being the hook. One of the things that make this game a different experience from the original is the fact that if you push X you will throw a hook on a diagonal direction; pushing up on the keyboard will make it go up and pushing down will make it go straight. The entire game is build around this gimmick so you can't really expect good platforming that doesn't involve it. The first stage really shows the potential this gimmick has making platforming interesting and innovative, enemies react to your hook and sometimes screw you over, there's some traps that you can evade with the hook and going fast is really satisfying.The game also adds the possibility to charge your shot so it deals more damage but the bullet is bigger making it hard to hit certain enemies, there's not that many enemies that you can kill on this game but I think this gimmick is a nice addition. If this game was only the first stage then I would be pleasantly surprised as most of my gripes with IWBTG would have been fixed. But then the rest of the game happened.
Stage 2 is actually awfully designed not doing anything original with the hook and instead is made to frustate the player. Traps in this area are awful aswell. Stage 1 has actually some cool and interesting traps while this area is just your usual "Lol trolled you". I would also like to point out that this area is actually super unpolished as I managed to clip on a block and crash the game not once but 3 times, also the area is filled with glitches and obviously unintended stuff.
Stage 3 is just Memorophilia for IWBTG original, it's also very short and is not really interesting on its own. You go and you fight an upgraded version of the Mike Tyson fight from IWBTG, this time it's Bad Bull and while better than the original fight it's still is very lackluster.
One thing that I would like to point out is that the game is very pretty in terms of the sprites chosen and the music and sound effects fit very well the game. So that's a big plus on my book.
Overall should you play I Wanna Be The Guy:Gaiden? I would suggest to wait until there's a new update. Even if the game hasn't had a major updated in years. (last updated was 2 months ago and it only fixed some of the bugs in the game.) The games about 15-25 minutes long so if you have some spare time give it a go.

Based on 100% clear.
Normal game can't compare to the first game since there's less of a sense of unity between the stages, likely since it's not just korean makers. Additionally, it only has a couple hard stages, so there isn't that much of a chance to be challenging. Most of the easy stages are interesting but some, as mentioned, some don't feel complete or fitting.
Most interesting imo were Lie, Biogom and OyO.
Extra basically fixes this problem so that it's at a good, hard difficulty comparable to the first game, so for best experience try out some extra areas.
About some of the harder individual stages:
Biogom was very fun vine needle, expect for last save.
Lie was a nice L-style area. Some saves are weird.
In rukito the rule is basically that the second save of a screen is hard. Will also have to mention the drop save near the end with awkward and hard stuttering required midway in.
Cosowl is weird and hard. In last screen two saves require a 1frame stutter.
Words about extra:
Noah and Rkdehdtls extras are drastic improvements over the completely free regular stages. Especially Noah is cool and a definite highlight of the game.
Personally didn't like some of Shinobu extra but it's the most regular style extra there is, so it's probably the best one to beat normally.
SinKun is basically just some inverts but it's decent.
Influcca isn't anything special, just a single-save screen.
PowerNao extra is a decent easy-ish L-screen expect for the last two saves which were hard.
Kamilia is a really long chase for the portal in the Crimson gravity flipper secret screen. All the hard jumps are at the end but it was surprisingly fun.
And then the Whiteshadow extra is two considerably hard single-save screens. (Edit: I beat second screen again in 40mins I can't call it hard anymore lol)
The Leehe hidden stage is also pretty neat and mostly has an adequate level of difficulty. Also contains hints on how to access extra.
