Not as bad as most of the reviews make it out to be.
IWTBTGB is one of the first fangames I've ever played and I must admit, the first time it beat the shit out of me, I thought it was so hard. Now turning back to it; it just made me realize how annoying it actually was (and not hard). This fangame contains lots of traps and the bosses are just godawful RNG mashing fiesta. There are no cool platforming segments or anything and the world just feel unpolished. But still something about it makes me doubt if this is actually such an awful game. You see the game has it's charm being one of those old fangames that are just annoying but beating it still feels so satisfying. In the end, after finishing it you will look back and say "Man, that was a load of bullshit but it was still fun."

It's one of those old games that try way too hard to be hard and end up being annoying as hell. Dumb traps, secret passageways, finger raping bosses, you name it. Don't play.
Also that mario boss is still creepy.

There are some interesting concepts, such as the stage with the tunnels. Sometimes the game trolls you in a funny way (Very rare). And some of the stages actually look good, really reminding you of a GB game. Few. And these are all the good things I can name about this game.
Traps are mostly generic, and most saves are so filled with them you don't even get to enjoy the platforming (A platforming that could be decent at some points). Water works like infinite jumping (Doesn't slow you down when you're falling), which makes me wonder how much does this Kid weigh. And that would still make a decent game, if it weren't for the bosses.
Bosses are always about mashing (Not including the chase), and since their HP is kinda high, this is very exhausting. Just to name some of them, we have: A bouncing Mario that attacks you with a rain of RNG bouncing cherries, plus more RNG bouncing cherries when you attack him, and he adds spikes to the fun if his HP is low; A laughing face that becomes a fist and connects his attacks in so many annoying ways that getting impossible/very hard to avoid RNG is almost casual; The last boss, with three phases: GB, GBA and NDS. It's all at once, glitchy, annoying, repetitive, boring, hard to learn, confusing, bad-looking, and overall made in the worst possible way.
All the bosses are bad-looking, and some of them are extremely glitchy (GB/GBA/NDS isn't the only one). Even Tribute was more enjoyable than this. Highly not recommended.
