Nearigami
Edit December 13th, 2023: This game is better than I remember. Yes it is jank in some spots and it doesn't compare to the other installments, but the core game beneath is a lot of fun. Xplayer's review articulates the game's strengths far better than I can, so read that instead.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Game is aged and lazily made, with several glitches and a long outdated engine. I would be lying though if I said I didnt enjoy this. I think K1 after you get past the obviously terrible stuff is a game that if nothing else has enjoyable and nostalgic aspects. The final boss is really well made too. If you do decide to play this game, at least play the final boss.

I expected that going into this that the game would be bad, and it didn't disappoint. The engine itself is pretty bad, like it works, but only most of the time. It also has REALLY aged, like I get that it's from 2012, but wow, it looks wildly bad. It was made in 2 days apparently though, from what I could read, so it makes sense as to why it looks kinda ugly. But honestly, even with everything wrong with it, I still think it's pretty cool. I like how the difficulty progresses throughout the game (mostly), and I thought that some of the traps were pretty funny, like the spikes when you spawn into stage 2 and stuff. Very cool! The platforming itself is cool, and for the most part, really fun. Some screens were bad, the See The Moon screen comes to mind immediately for me, as I went into this blind and didn't look up a video (due to stubbornness gg). I also like The Kamilia fight, it is definitely the best part of the game in my opinion, it's really fun when you actually learn it, and really seems like it's where most of the time was spent on for the game. The other bosses are ok, I really hated boss 4 though, and the boss 5 final phase was annoying to get used to. The rest of the time was either mid or slightly below mid. I don't think this game is for beginners at all, like as soon as stage 5 begins, it really spikes in difficulty, until you clear the game.
I liked the game, but that's because I knew it was going to be bad, and thought that most of the game was pretty funny. I respect it for being the first of it's kind, and for what it created.
