This game brings me lot of enjoyment for 28 hours that i spend on it. It's really magnificent statement of modern-style needle, that hits many spots pretty right. This needle has very good difficulty flow, it starts already hard at start and smoothly goes to somewhat extreme territory. This needle has very memorable presentation of every stage, in every essense from visuals to music. This needle has fun gameplay for 90 % of time

Some words tho can be only spoken if we go through stages in order. So stage 1 is chill tower, where you go downwards (pretty cool design decision for first area of the game, i really like this concept for no reason). It's warming opening of game, as i say it's hard, but it's nessesary hard to select people who strong enough to beat this game. This stage shows you how gameplay will feel most of the gametime - some triggers, that are sort of traps, heavy usage of water, platforms and vines and very smooth jumps, that are looks harder than they are. Overall, i had massive fun with this stage, it was strong beginning of game

Stage 2 contrasts with stage 1 in terms of atmosphere, if stage 1 was kinda light-hearted, then stage 2 has that demonic doom vibe. This stage is harder than stage 1 in few ways. Not only jumps will be harder overall, but saves will be more long and complex, and also triggers and traps will be more merciless. Tbh, while some people hates flow of this stage, i find it very fun, reminds me of some Rukito platforming in best way

Stage 3 is... different. This stage will heavily focus on gimmick, not regular gimmick, but unique one. The gimmick can be explained as refresher panels, that will restore your double jump after touching them. It's actually pretty simple gimmick in usage, it's sort of refresher jumps, but in more coarse way. I had fun with it, it's nicely built in saves. But... this goes only for first half of stage. Unfortunately in second half of stage game strikes you with another compleyely unexpectable gimmick, that is not connected with panels and basically just appears from nowhere. I kinda get why maker decided to this twist, but man, i fucking dislike it overall. So the second gimmick is bounce water, pretty hard to control and unintuitive mess. Not only maker will not let you adapt to it, like sane people will allow to do, nah, first save with this gimmick is already insanely fucking rough to figuring out and pretty hard to execute in one go. And it will not stops, the rest of the stage will be exactly like this - chokingly painful headache-inducing experience with increasing difficulty. I maybe kinda overreacted on this overall, but man, second half of this stage was really fucking lowpoint for me. I absolutely hate when maker just completely break the rules of the pacing and give you insane shit, and you have basically no space to breath, no place to practice, just saves that will make you mad. Some might love this, but i actually going with Zero on this. Evaluation of this stage - sucks (but i really like sepia visuals here, ngl)

So after this horror, stage 4 happens. This stage focuses on usage of gravity switches with addition of catharsis water. It might sounds not good, but in reality this stage slaps. All saves here are very driving with impetuous crazy maneuvers and gives you just good feeling of energy and action, which interestingly contrasts with simple black-white background. Overall vibe of this stage is very awesome, my main issues is just how some jumps are too much rough in comparison with others, it's not like issue that happens only in this stage, but idk only here it feels like it pushing limits too much. It was still ultra cool stage, second best in the game for me, final save is insanely awesome

And then happens final stage 5. Oh boy, so, this is kinda returning to origins. While stage 1 was downwards tower, here there will be classic upwards tower with gloomy and bright palitre at the same time. What i can say about this stage is that is... really impressive. It's kinda hard to explain why i so in love with this stage, because this is basically gameplay-wise also stage 1 - there will be very stricted amount of triggers, no unique gimmicks, just straightforward needle. I think the reasons why i think this is the best stage in the game are overall vibe of climbing, insanely fucking great design of jumps and ideal balance. So for vibe - the main thing is that you will never see where the save ends from save position, which is nicely done considering saves here are more about horizontal movement than vertical. You will always need to explore and think, and this is very cool feeling that i sense here, pretty much masterpiece of tower execution. Jumps - they are all awesome. Many of them look cracked, but all of them are very consistent and fun to do. It's not a rare feeling for me - to enjoy jumps in needle, but here it was like shiniest experience of it with really memorable stuff here and there. And for balance, well, it was pretty much perfect for me to complete this stage in one go. Every save feels pretty much same in difficulty, while providing different challenges; very enjoyable stuff and i was really amazed how Chyeri managed to do this. I also like how save are maded in certain pattern way: they are all had kinda hard opening and relatively easy ending, which makes it very possible to fluke the shit out of them, which is always a nice touch. Not surprisingly, best stage in the game

After stage 5 there will be two kinda pointless easy saves. I didn't get why this stuff in the game, but alright, yeah sure

So overall, this is wonderful needle experience. Provides you good difficulty curve, craziest jump configurations and variety of content. Despite some issues, i totally had blast while playing this; definitely one of the best hard needle in the fangame town

Very hard gimmicky needle with relatively long saves and precise jumps, definitely worth playing if you can enjoy such difficulty

Overall amazing game, the only stage that felt kind of unsatisfying was stage 2.
stage 3 and especially 4 are very subtle to play compared to some other needles.

I Wanna Stop Crying Myself To Sleep is one of the most iconic and in a lot of ways infamous needle games out there, and the reasoning why became clear to me pretty quickly in my playthrough. For one the theming in this game is incredibly strong, it's pretty clearly a game about grief and the way the stages embody each stage of grief is in many places very powerful and I found myself especially towards the end of the game resonating quite a bit with this, the fourth stage is just so dreary and the needle itself feels very constricted, whereas the final stage feels so much more open, still grounded in reality but it has the kind of vibe that just rubs off on me a bit. I also found the final needle screen to be extremely unnerving, something about it just got to me. I focused on the 2nd half when it comes to aesthetics but really the whole game is great, special shoutout to stage 2 song which I felt really set the tone of that stage well.

The platforming itself is mostly really good! It's not perfect, there's two saves I took issue with, one in stage 3 which introduces the water that rises you, I just felt like it was weak, for one the gimmick feels inconsistent in a lot of situations which is a problem the rest of the stage avoids but you really feel it in this save even when it comes to the first jump, plus the jumps just felt awkward in a lot of places and not nearly as good to pull off as other stuff in the stage. The other save was a random one in save 4 I found kinda uncomfortable to play, it's the 2nd save on the 3rd to last "real" screen. Besides that though, I really enjoyed how each stage felt like it had it's own thing going on, it made the game feel extremely varied and fresh, even just the basic jumps feel different from stage to stage. The game's use of triggers is pretty nice in my opinion, often using them to force interesting movements, and the gimmicks, while minimal, were pretty solid and complimented the needle well in most places. The game's difficulty is definitely a bit high and the jumps themselves can be quite intricate, but generally it feels good to play and rewarding to get good at. I think this is one of those games where every save just feels satisfying to complete.

Cry is a fantastic needle game, it definitely has it's sets of flaws but I think considering what the game sets out to do, it succeeds at it's goals quite well. It's definitely something that will stick with me both for the gameplay and non-gameplay elements, which is a pretty good indicator of quality. I would recommend it if you can look past the elephant in the room, there's a lot to like about the game itself.
