A 3 stage medley game with a few extra screens after it. It's a congratulations fangame meant for Retsu who has beaten 400 fangames, so this maker made a medley as a homage to the games Retsu has beaten in the past while adding some new stuff too. The maker put a lot of effort into the overall design of the game, which can be seen at the beginning of the game and the boss at the end. It follows the K2 formula where each game is presented by 1 screen instead of the usual 2 screens seen in games like K3 and C2.
I just find it a little unfortunate that 90% of the screens are just standard needle screens with no actual ideas thrown in instead of porting over a random screen that Retsu happened to beat before. I have no idea what his clear list looks like; It might as well consist of a ton of standard needle clears while other genres like trap, adventure or gimmick are less present. If he played more variety then I would liked this game to have more genres thrown in than simply needle. The needle screens themselves aren't bad, it just felt a bit lackluster and easy to port over. Stage 1 seems to have the most creative screen picks, but by the time you enter stage 3 you only have ~3 screens in total that do something different than ordinary needle. In the Umbrella screen the game even spoils you what the solutions are in one of the readmes incase you don't know Japanese or haven't watched Retsu before. I think this was a good decision by the maker.
After you beat stage 3, it throws you to a Drivers screenpick where the spikes are replaced by cats and the background that used to be black has been changed to various games Retsu has beaten in the past. Some show up in the game while others don't. It ends off with 2 original screens: One where it's a mixture of needle and simple moving obstacles like bouncing fruits or fruits that move in a path. The maker definitely has the skill to code in little obstacles like these and I wish he could have used more screen picks like the final stage, but from actual fangames instead. Like I said, this could differ based on what Retsu's preferred genre is to beat. The last needle screen is a long single save screen where you have to loop around a shape of that cat that was present throughout the game. It's nothing major but still cute nonetheless.
The boss is your standard Destination boss: Shoot the 4 cannons while it cycles through random attacks and ends off with a white phase. It's yet another boss that has creative attacks and I like what the maker did here. I had no issues with this boss but take it as a grain of salt because I beat it first try. From what I played I thought it was pretty good, and was the reason for me to play the game alone. Beat the boss and you win!
All in all, it's a medley that is not bad in any regard. The maker showed his creativity and had to deal with the limitations of picking games that Retsu beat before (or he cherrypicked fangames at random who knows) but that sadly ends up leaving the game as being a bit dull due to nearly all of the screens in the game being needle. The presentation is great and the boss at the end is especially great, it's just that there's a lack of cool screen picks when there was most likely a chance to add some based on the games Retsu has played before.
Would recommend.
