Important note, you may need to turn your volume up higher than normal fangames due to the balance being adjusted for speakers.

This is my entry to the I Wanna Game Jam, it was made in two days and is also my first release. It is a special work containing a fairy tale written and told by myself. Please enjoy with the whole family, and with your audio on. Also, please do not upload screenshots other than the Title screen, wouldn't want to spoil the plot!

Also, here's a test you can do afterwards if you really want to about the story, cause why not?! https://forms.gle/wFZWv9Zzj8w18MHw5

Commentary: This game overall makes me very happy to claim as my first ever release. It's incredibly simple, really short, and doesn't even play like a fangame, yet I still feel as if it completely represents me perfectly. At the time I was making this for the Game Jam, I had a doctors appointment out of town and thus had even less time to create my entry, which thus sparked making something like this.

I think stories are some of the most important things to ever exist, and to me they were always an escape method to a more interesting life. It's no surprise perhaps that even my college degree is in English, or that the majority of my favorite games also have stories as well. This one in particular was meant to be rather simple to fit in the theme of a fantasy fairy tale, and while it's certainly nothing fancy it is the first story I have ever given to the world. Seeing people play it made me beyond happy because of such, this community certainly can bring someone joy.

Regarding the voice acting, while I am definitely not as an emotional speaker as a proper storyteller would be I could only see this game existing with doing the voice myself. This was a great challenge to me as due to my social anxiety I hardly ever speak in general, but such a personal touch felt necessary for my first release. On release this game was the only thing in existence that had my recorded voice, and this remains mostly true still, so thus in a way this game serves as the only proof of my existence.

As mentioned in the end I did at some point intend to make more of these, and while that hasn't happened yet I would still love to do so in the future. I haven't really decided how that would look like though, so I wouldn't count on it happening anytime soon. With that said, anthologies are wonderful because often other individuals can add onto it themselves, and by all means I happily encourage you to do so if you wish.

Legend of Brom is perhaps one of the rarest things in fangames, a completely new idea. As far as I know, nothing else does something like this. It's essentially an audiobook with art, and it's really interesting. The story itself is nothing super special, but has an interesting conclusion, and plays with genre tropes in an interesting way. The art is actually really well done, and a perfect accompaniment to the story. Overall, I'm so happy to see something like this, and hope more games like this come out. It's fully terra incognita for fangames, and even just non-joke stories in general are mostly unexplored as well. I'm always a fan of uniquity, and this is no exception.

even if there is no gameplay itself, the execution is something that i've never expected from an iwbtg fangame. this is pure gold.

A relaxing story-telling game made for the game jam in a very short time.

Graphics are very simple and enough to give a powerful note on the story told within the game.
It's an elegant way to make a first entry in the fangame world and also a rare treat to have a story explicitly told with overall narration.

But since it's a first game, it is interesting to note the slight contrast in the game and how the story is being told to us.

The background music does follow the action of the text very well, getting more or less active when needed during the tale, as well as the pictures / frames.
In comparison, the author feels hesitant, which is understandable given the nature of the unique challenge he gave to himself.
It is an unusual point to bring up, but if the series follows the trend, then it could be useful.

Given the story and involvment in the making process, I hope that the future that awaits the series does add some spice in the narration.
It can be descriptive and relaxed, but even that, like in dialogues, has to follow up the intensity of the story at some point.

I do think that in this case, the tone was superb for the beginning part and gets lost / fades afterwards.
When the first action frame comes up, we see the follow up with the more intense background colouring
and hear it with a more active / expressive tone in the music.

Yet we still have the same descriptive manner used in the very beginning that remains.
Spice it up ! Come on show us what you have !

By using some bits of imagination, I'm sure you can come up with something very nice easily.
It kinda needs practice, but it's more like a habit if you never tried it yourself.

I'm waiting for the next chapter and for a story warmed by your heart.
