I really wanted to give this a higher rating, but one save ruined it. Everything else is about 60 difficulty, and warrants probably a 6/10, so it's a real shame.

The save:

There are a bunch of gimmick items (dash and jump) that need to be collected and used as you go (sorry I didn't screenshot the save with them still around). Now, even if this save worked as intended, it would still be harder than the rest—a 65, maybe. But the real problem is that it doesn't work properly. The last dash you collect doesn't actually increase your dash counter, meaning you can't complete the save the intended way with using the two dashes and single-jumping to the next save. So instead of this, I had to find a way to either preserve a dash or preserve a jump. While I believe both are technically possible, the easiest option is to preserve a jump, which you can do in the top right by arcing your jump so you can use a dash later than intended. It's awkward, but it works.


Beyond that save, there are a couple skips I found that made the pathing irrelevant. One example would be for this save (https://i.imgur.com/t4sF1FY.jpg) in which I managed to skip the glowing dash and jump items.

Putting the abovementioned concerns aside, the gimmicks are generally well incorporated into the platforming. Most of the manoeuvres were fun to pull off, and the pathing was clever but not overwhelmingly so. It was fun to figure out what to do most of the time, and that's not something I can say often.

The needle isn't very good; it's super generic and inconsistent. It's not very fun to have to do a rukito jump in the middle of a save, or a half-diamond, but the difficulty generally stays low enough that I wasn't ever stuck due to the needle.

If that specific save ever gets addressed, then I might recommend this game to people who don't mind gimmick needle with, at times, generic platforming. However, as it currently stands, I can't recommend this to anyone.

I didn't love the save mentioned in Kilgour's review, though the final dash item being fake is actually intentional. I wish that was either not the case or that it had some sort of visual/aural indication so that you can know that the item is fake while playing. I'd also like if the rest of the triggers in the game were properly indicated and slightly more visually interesting than just making a spike get deleted (maybe fading out???). The mechanic is decently fun but not always used in the best of ways. However, the pathing is cool, and I enjoyed the game overall.
