Another IWM convert posts their first game, and in some ways, it shows.
This short gimmick needle game has some decent level design, particularly in the first half, where some rarer gimmicks (buttons, laser gates, bounce-blocks) are used. The platforming here is certainly the strongest part of the game. I mostly enjoyed the single-use gravity arrows, too.
Inexperience shows, however, in the small things. For instance, the maker messed up the collision detection for right-spikes, which led them to sink all of them into the block by a pixel or two. While I appreciated the effort that went into making bad collision not an issue, the solution to this is very simple.
Aside from this (and the kid sprite being higher depth than the saves...), there were also a few skips that were obvious to me, as an experienced player, like grabbing a vine five blocks above.
Really, this game just needed to be playtested by someone with the requisite experience to identify and address these issues. I still recommend checking it out for some pretty solid platforming, though, and I hope this creator continues making.
