For: I wanna climb the Witch's Tower
Here's what Witch's Tower did right relative to the Witch's Needle:
- Feels much more cohesive and like a real game as opposed to a bunch of screens glued together haphazardly. This has been done through improving the visuals and using logical screen transitions in lieu of warps. Plus, some screens are literally connected (in a way that is later done to utter perfection in Vandal), further enhancing the feeling of genuine progression.
- Platforming is MUCH better, making it much more evident that this is by the same person who made Vandal. Nearly everything feels beautiful to pull off and smooth in such a way that reminds one of their bottom as a baby (my Lord, what a dumb phrase that was). Not only is the platforming better to play, though, it's also much more inventive and unique. Gone are the days of platform spike jumps copy-pasted throughout ever screen, now you'd be hard-pressed to find any repeated jumps within five screens of each other at least.

Really, I take no issue with this game at all. There were a couple saves that were more grindy than others, but I wouldn't say they were worse than other saves in terms of quality. On the topic of difficulty, the difficulty scaling is excellent and feels really natural. From beginning to end, you will find almost no spikes in difficulty aside from those previously-mentioned grindy saves (which were mostly located in the final two stages). The best stage is the last one, naturally, but every stage was excellent.
Highly recommended if you enjoy needle to any degree.

Overall, I had a great time with this game. Most stages ranged from pretty good to excellent and rarely did I find myself wholly unhappy with a stage aside from Zebbe94 and Dlaston's stage (the latter due to the over-usage of generic traps and the former because the boos were extremely irritating to deal with. Otherwise, I'd recommend every stage here to some degree. The production value is insane and the variety alone is more than enough to keep the player occupied for the duration of the game.
The ??? stage is overall far too long and far too much of a mixed bag. Nothing here is bad outright, though the heart section comes a bit close, but I was tired of it by the second-to-last section. If the thwomp and heart section were cut out, I'd have liked this bit a lot more. The final section is the best, but mostly because of the music; otherwise, Dribix's section (the one which has Megalovania) is the best.
