Serial Experiments Kid is a bonafide Adventure game by Dagger, who as always brings out quite an entertaining product.
The game takes place in a mysterious building in which the Kid has been imprisoned. Within this building are bedrooms in which sleeping will transport you to each of the different stages in the game. As you'd expect from a Dagger game, he focuses heavily on variety and making each save feel like an individual idea. There are occasional gimmicks used to deliver on this idea, though one water gimmick was rather unsavory. Each stage also ends with a boss fight, I found them to be mostly alright but not very exciting to play. Wrapping the whole game together is a storyline, and even with it all being translated finally I can't say it was really worth anyone's intrigue, it also just ends randomly without explaining basically anything going on. That's my final observation of the game, it sort of just ends on a low note as if the last stage got cut before the game was released somehow; you simply end the game without any real narrative satisfaction at all. Besides that fact though, if you don't care about the story then the game should be most enjoyable.
Overall, I think the game was pretty fun and represents what the Adventure genre is at its roots, would definitely recommend it.

The last gimmick is poorly explained, much harder than the rest, and hurt my hands to play. The rest of the final area is excellent. Most of the remainder of the game was great, aside from a couple screens I disliked learning.
