We need to address death trap spam. It's not fun or engaging level design, and it should not be used as a substitute for level design. Good level design in a needle platformer challenges the player. Traps are amusing once in a great while, but they need to be used sparingly. I summarized my opinion in this video:

"Needle games are a genre of precision platformer pretty much defined by IWBTG and its contemporaries. Substituting challenging and well-thought-out layouts for death trap spam does not make for good level design, and in fact, I argue that it misses the point of IWBTG entirely. I demonstrate this by showing how blatantly bad the level design is in the focus of today's video, compared to other needle platformers that understand what makes a good, interesting, and engaging challenge.

Maybe I am remembering IWBTG through rose colored glasses, but the game sure as shit doesn't make you go through 5 death traps in a row between two save points on the default difficulty (Hard) at any point. This is obnoxious, tedious, and frankly not fun. IWBTG did it as a joke. This game and many others like it copy it and use it unironically as a gimmick. When you are playing a difficult needler and you get through an insane gauntlet on the first try, it feels AWESOME. Dying to death traps and having to re-do large sections of level, regardless of the difficulty, is just not fun.

Other games I'd recommend are I Wanna Kill the Guy, Not Another Needle Game, and I Wanna Be the Chair 2 (granted chair 2 stops being fun after the lava reef stage is over imo)"

Rating is based on what I played before I dropped the game. It's un-challenging and relies way too much on death traps and forcing the player to tediously replay large chunks of level over and over again. Maybe the game gets better after the first of four stages, but if that's the case, they shouldn't have put their worst foot forward. First impressions matter a great deal.

Edit: I read the guidelines and just want to pre-emptively clarify that this is not a personal attack, nor an attack on death traps in general. I just take issue with their overuse, because in my opinion, it detracts from the challenge. I can also honestly say that I gave the game a fair shot, and I found it thoroughly unpleasant. I've played literally thousands of games over the past decade, both free and premium, and I've gotten pretty good at judging when a game is not (or stops being) worth my time. If you enjoy it, more power to you, but it's not for me.

Quite good game with 4 stages this times. It has more gimmicks than the previous entries and the traps are more original. The first two bosses are ok but the others are quite good, especially the second to last one (even if he's way harder than the rest of the game).
This serie becomes better each entry and I'm very excited to play the next ones.

Nice and creative traps, good gimmicks, good visuals and to top it all, good bosses. I didn't really like the third boss because, although the concept was good, some of the attacks were way too much RNG-based. The other ones were cool, though. If you liked the previous games of the series, you'll probably like this one too. If you didn't...Well, this one still has a chance, probably. Would recommend.

This one has four stages instead of the usual three, it starts with a generic stage but the next ones are pretty good. The bosses are fun, specially the second to last one.
