Decent Metroidvania game that was apparently made as a senior project for their college. The visuals are very simple but the gameplay makes up for it. The readme claims that it's made to be more forgiving than your regular fangame, which is true. It features a tutorial which you can skip as well as a revive gimmick where you have a HP bar, and if you take damage you won't die but instead respawn with less HP. Take enough hits and you are dead. You can press R at any moment which refills your HP bar the moment you respawn. The higher the difficulty, the more health you will lose. Impossible mode doesn't act like it does in your typical fangame, instead all saves are still present but one hit and you are dead.

As for the game itself, it's your typical metroidvania game. Your goal is to explore the maps while finding items in your away and dodging hazards that will stop you. The game is very friendly with halting your progress incase you don't have collected a specific item yet, so if you memorize where you haven't gone to most of the time you will end up finding that item you need to advance to the next part of the game. As for the items themselves, while I found most items to be pretty cool most of them are just used to jump through obstacles you previously weren't able to. I like how you are able to combine multiple items at once but some of them mess with the kid's movement, like the wings not letting you double jump or the amulet decreasing your jump height. You can toggle an item by pressing the number that corresponds to that item. While this is a cool and simple addition, later on it becomes a bit more tedious to toggle the item you want because of the aforementioned multiple item gimmick and the opacity is too high for items that aren't currently activated. It might not be so bad for others, but for me this was a bit annoying.

The game also contains the typical baddies as well as three bosses that you have to fight at certain points in the game. The bosses are pretty easy but designed well enough that they aren't too boring or too frustrating to play. It would have been cool if the bosses were centered more about using an item you got previously, but that's just my opinion. I found the final boss to be a bit too random with the attacks, but none of them are bad.

I think there is also a chance for softlocking if you play too well, but I might be wrong. After you beat the first boss it gives you the item which lets you swim in water. Near the beginning there is a room with 2 moving pink spikes on the left submerged in water with some enemies nearby. It is very possible to swim past the 2 pink spikes. While I don't know what's at the top of the screen, going left leads you to the path to the final boss. The problem here is that this room contains some jumps that force you to use the gimmicks later on, and there is a save on the right. If you save here and go right you don't end up where you previously were, but instead inside a wall on the left side of the difficulty screen with no way to go back. Beware of that if you sequence break the game.

It's alright. A decent player can beat this in around half an hour, so it isn't very long. I just wish it was a bit more fleshed out, but for simply being a senior project it's pretty good.
