We all know by now the fate of a game like this. If you're going to make a medley game, make it your own. Come up with new and interesting ideas, have testers that actually care about the game. Most of all though, get some knowledge of how the game engine actually works first. So many new makers try to make a medley game as their first game and it always goes catastrophically. You need a lot of coding skills to make something remotely interesting in this genre.

For anyone wondering what happened to my old review, it was removed due to specifically targeting the creator of this game. I know he's gotten the message by now so i'll put it out there to anyone who is thinking of making a medley game: It is a very, very rough business. If you are not completely sure of your abilities, don't do it. Even if you are, it's likely that a more fresh and original non-medley game would have a bigger impact on the community. Let's face it, medleys have had their time to shine and there likely won't be another "great" medley game such as K3 to change everything.

As far as this game goes, it's clear the pitfalls it succumbs to. First and foremost, no one except the creator cared about its development. This is awful for a few reasons but mainly it means that the testers will not give good feedback because they would likely be rushing through. Secondly, it tries too hard to reproduce what K3 gave us instead of introducing new and interesting ideas. Copycat games never make it very far (especially when produced like this). Another huge aspect of medley games is the production value. You're copying screens from other games, so it's incredibly important to have a nice framework surrounding it. This game does not. The title screen is kind of ugly and overall the structure of the game and its design is just not coherent nor consistent.

I understand that many hours were poured into creating this game. What did we get though? An experimental mess strung together with macaroni and Elmer's glue. This is what happens when you aim for the stars when all you have is a bottle rocket. If any prospective game maker is reading this, follow my advice and don't be overambitious with your first project. Or even your second. Make small games, get feedback, collaborate, participate in contests. Eventually you can become good enough to tackle a project such as this, but until then, star far, far away from the devil's medley.

I really can't give this an honest rating because I was involved in a lot of this. This game is rushed and what could have been better or more fun was ignored for the sake of pushing this out by November. Josh's biggest weakness as a creator is he is too eager to release stuff and won't test or fine tune his stuff more. If you are going to play this (which I still recommend you to to some extent) I would wait for a patch. I did enjoy this while testing but upon realization that the game has a ridiculous amount of problems I really can't look at it the same way. To summarize this review of the game I look at a quote from Shigeru Miyamoto himself: "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad." It doesn't matter the patches and how much I personally want to fix this game, the damage has already been done.

Questo gioco fa schifo.
Questo tizio non ha la più pallida idea di quello che sta facendo, non sa programmare neanche una barra della vita. Quanto può essere difficile disegnare un rettangolo?
È veramente imbarazzante quanto il misto di incompetenza e negligenza sia veramente palpabile.

L'unico motivo per cui ho continuato a giocare è la guest area.
Sono spiacente per le persone che hanno una guest area, ma questo gioco fa schifo al cazzo.
Dovrebbero prendere in considerazione la possibilità di pubblicare le loro aree come giochi individuali. Qualsiasi protesta da parte dell'autore dovrebbe essere ignorata.

boss1, boss 2, boss 3, boss 4, boss rush maze, scramble, the father, solgryn, hurtful pain tower, potato 2, down right up, unknown, NANG, BoshyMan area, Joshua area, Mokuteki area, Smartkin area, secret boss 3, secret boss 4, secret boss 5. There is probably more, but these are the ones I remember.

This game is honestly not good, the stages had so many screens that weren't creative and others that had great ideas but were executed in the laziest way possible like RMJ and Kill The Guy, very few felt actually fun and different from your average medley game, specially stage 4 was really bad, unbalanced and unfitting compared to the others, the production value in this game doesnt even feel like its there and makes the game seem unfinished and more rushed than it is, the bosses are for the most part just embarassing, ones like boss 1, boss 4, solgryn don't belong in the game in the slightest and feel like no effort and care were put into them, no character and soul whatsoever. Boss 4 and other avoidances I've had a lot of lag issues with, besides various other bugs which I'm certainly hoping get fixed some time soon, as the maker has been aware of them for so long. The secrets, secret bosses and guest stages were way more fun than the actual whole medley part of the game, and the guest stages specially because they weren't directly involved with the main maker, smartkin and infern0 are wonderful makers whose areas felt rly good and just shouldve been a separate game from this one, would've gotten more recognition and not mixed in the mess that this game ended up being. One half of this game is below average, and the other feels so different in comparison. Personally i would say its worth it to go through just to play them if youre a fan of needle and avoidance, otherwise you're much better off playing the more famous and popular medley games in the community. Also worth mentioning: This game was updated and Josh didn't say a single word about it, absolutely none of the testers actually played things beyond the guest stages given how hard it was, this new stage has some of the most questionable platforming in the game with parts that were supposed to be actually kinda easy but the maker's lack of self-awareness and competence made those parts just as bad with certain jumps being ridiculously precise. Everything after that stage is the worst thing I've personally seen done in a medley.
