Fantastic steak adventure game.
I'm really happy to play this.

No more steak is ERs's trash.
Thank you very much.

I've always had a soft spot for earrapespider's steak series, so I was very giddy when I saw this title show up on twitter one day. Sadly for me, the title was very misleading. I downloaded this game expecting a real steak game and was very disappointed when I started it up.

I was never a big fan of platformers in general, so I was never all that big on the so-called "adventure games" that were supposedly common before I got into fangames, before the wiki was killed by uncreative makers constantly shitting out avoidances and needle for the to harass Likewana and kill the community. I originally got into fangames because I thought needle looked interesting, and after playing these games for a few years, I've developed an appreciation for some of the more experimental, avant-garde examples of creative needle expression, regardless of how aids or retarded most people think they are. Sure there a few adventure games come along every now and then that actually end up being fun (e.g. pre-notes scribble), but for the most part, they end up falling into a few different categories of near-equivalent unplayability in my eyes. The big ones are your moving-shit-with-random-gimmicks-because-people-find-this-interesting-because-it's-not-needle games (e.g. domu), your I-want-to-make-something-like-[insert commercial platformer people seem to enjoy]-but-I-don't-know-what-I'm-doing-so-I'll-make-it-an-iwbtg-fangame-to-lower-peoples'-expectations games (e.g. overlord), and your lovetrap-did-this-early-on-so-this-is-what-a-real-fangame-is-supposed-to-be games (e.g. heaven trap). Maybe I'm just a contrarian asshole everyone's better off just ignoring, but I'd choose the most cancerous needle trash over over your typical adventure game any day of the week. I'd gladly choose blue core over coop, sky line spike over serial experiments kid, or climb the steak over cat. I'd rather penetrate the hypersphincter than run the marathon.

With that in mind, I don't think it's too far of a stretch to conclude that steak temple wouldn't be my jam. It is essentially the sort of random adventure game I'd generally give a wide berth. The problem is that when you put the word "steak" in the title of a fangame, you're essentially asking for the audience to go in expecting a tower of required 1Fs or a chain of cancerous platform jumps with questionable visuals. While the visuals still were questionable at times, steak temple is about as far from earrapespider's steak opus as a fangame can get. The title was nothing more than a ploy devised to trick unsuspecting needle-art enthusiasts such as myself into downloading something we would never touch with a 10 foot pole. Had it been called a "beef temple" or something of the like, it wouldn't have wasted nearly as much of my time. It wouldn't have reopened the almost forgotten wounds from when earrapespider announced that he would not be continuing his steak series. It maybe would have earned a solid 4 in my book on the arbitrary scale of delfruit ratings.

On the bright side, it did inspire the creation of two true steak games, so I guess a straight up zero might be a little harsh.
All in all, wouldn't recommend.

I also forgot to mention that this isn't a real temple game either, but that series is complete garbage, so I guess that's something else it did right.

A nice adventure where you aim to become the Steak Temple. Plenty of moving obstacles, a bit of needle, a hilarious trap section, a nice incremental section, everything flavored with humor and meat aesthetics. The last boss is pretty fun, despite being painfully long. There isn't a lot I can think of to say about it, but overall it's a really solid game. Would definitely recommend.

An entertaining adventure game barring one area. Very creative, quite well designed and a pretty good, flat difficulty curve. There was a pretty good variety between the areas and the final boss was really original and well executed as Lss seems to have made a name for himself doing.

If only he'd left the terrible +1 gimmick concept in the garbage. I don't get how a gimmick where 'do the same thing over and over except while progressively worse aesthetics assault your senses' is catching on, but I sure hope it doesn't continue to do so (or hell, someone could just stick to adding interesting gameplay elements, which happens maybe 50% of the time instead of just tacking on visual trash)

Nonetheless, if you're willing to suffer through a little eye-searing, you'll be treated to some amusing traps, non-standard bosses and interesting platforming - and it is worth it.
