-If the game sounds too quiet, I recommend turning off the "Volume relative to System" setting on the options menu. It's on by default.
-This game doesn't play nice with Windows 10, so I recommend playing it with Windows 7's compatibility mode.
-Use renex's gms_scheduler_fix (download the .dll and place it in the same folder the .exe is). Here's the link: https://github.com/omicronrex/gms_scheduler_fix
-Rooms with lots of particles or text drawing will likely slow the game if you're using Windows 10 and beyond. It's not terrible, but it does happen on specific places like menus.

It is not explained in the readme, but you can suicide by pressing Ctrl+Q at any time. The command is fixed, so it won't matter if you use the Q or Ctrl keys for other actions. This was made mostly as a dramatic effect, and for its nostalgia factor.

Important to note as of this review (2019-03-28) that this is a Demo.
This game makes a really interesting first impression. A quick gander at the readme indicates this is a demo and explains vaguely what it is and isn't missing (which tends to be a little worrying), but as you start it up you see that there is quite a bit here already. Its easy to notice the physics are non-standard (though the maker reportedly is addressing that) though it isn't really a problem through the vast majority of the game.
The stages are varied, look great with lots of dynamic touches and a good variety. The first couple stages are pretty well developed but as you progress you will see more and more that reminds you that it is a demo. They all possess a variety of gimmicks and most with some enemies to engage as well. The creativity present generally overcomes the rough edges you'd expect from a demo.
Overall, if you don't mind an unfinished project and a bit of non-traditional physics, this is a great work in progress adventure game. The aesthetics are great and the stages (which is all there is at the moment) are well varied and pretty fun to work through. I'd be a little hesitant if you're a newer player as the demo aspect shows in some back and forth balance at points that could be a sticking point, but if you're more experienced there's definitely nothing that should trip you up for long. I hope this project continues as there's a ton of potential here and its a fantastic first look from a new maker.
Edit: With the addition of hp and level mechanics and more understandable physics, this is much easier and more accessible.
