A pretty solid, high production medium length adventure game with a lot going for it.

It looks great, there's good application of effects all over the place and nice details that don't harm visibility and it really comes together to create great looking, animated environments. The boss production is stellar as well, with clean animations, lots of projectile variations and effects.

Platforming wise, its very easy but enjoyable. Each stage has a solid identity with its own gimmick and while some saves are long, they're all pretty fair and interesting. For the main game platforming, its probably peaks more in the 40 range. The extra platforming is harder and generally worse (I also experienced a bug which made the ladders not always working to jump off of, which ended up killing my playthrough in extra, though during the main game its not really relevant).

Finally, the bosses are the meat of this game and are much harder, and kind of bring a focus into one of the biggest issues with the game - balance. The platforming make a cool beginner game but the bosses will chase them away, or some of them will. I don't mind the differentials between the platforming and the boss difficulty, but the difference between adjacent bosses and even with the same boss do get out of hand. Some of the early bosses are quite easy and short, and some are long and much harder and its not a logical curve by any means. Within the bosses themselves too, certain attacks are much harder than others, making attack rng feel like a crapshoot sometimes. Still, they're well produced and interesting and as long as you can handle the harder parts, they're mostly quite enjoyable.

All in all, its worth playing if you enjoy boss fights. The skill level needed to beat the bosses far exceeds the platforming and while it isn't boring for the most part, you'll breeze through it. You'll definitely need a bit of patience as the bosses do have some problems, but its worth checking out because there's some really cool fights along the way, and they come fast and frequently.

Charming adventure game, the main downside of the experience is the platforming which is pretty unmemorable and unremarkable in my opinion. The bosses are interesting, they are very long for a game of this difficulty but there's nothing wrong with that. They can be repetitive at times but it's really not that bad. As some bonus points, the visuals in this game are quite good. In my opinion it's nothing amazing, but it's far from bad.

Treasure Hunter is an excellent adventure game where the main focus ends up being the boss battles more than the platforming. I greatly enjoyed it.

The game generally takes place alongside a few areas with branching paths, each with a boss at the end. The platforming is mostly very easy compared to the bosses, it's probably like a 40 at most while the bosses bring it up to the high 50s. Despite this imbalance it executes such very well by making the bosses actually feel really fun, so it kind of reminds me of games like Titan Souls where the bosses are the main content and everything else is world building. Of the bosses all of them are very good, though the next-to-last was notably lower in quality and the final boss had a single attack that felt way harder than the others. Also, the game seems to have a lot more content past this ending but I decided to conclude my journey with any% per the recommendation of other reviewers.

Overall, this is a very stellar adventure game if you want some exciting boss fights with little platforming to worry about in-between them. It was quite enjoyable and definitely highly recommended by me.

Great adventure game from the maker of EDF, which I only know from others as "really cool but also really upsetting". Although the start is linear, the game quickly opens up the overworld to a selection of different levels you can discover and access, which I always enjoy.

Production is stellar here: it's not over the top or has a lot of effects but it's very polished, with good, varied tilesets, neat little cutscenes when you enter a level, great sprites and music, etc. Nothing really stands out here but that's for the best: everything complements the gameplay.

The level design is also pretty good. Although the overworld is mostly devoid of any challenge until you get close to a level entrance, the levels themselves are very good. They each have their own theme of sorts, with some small gimmicks to add to this theme. I wouldn't say these elements are very well explored, but they're not thrown around for nothing either, and there's a few moments where I genuinely thought "This is awesome". The difficulty balance isn't that great however and some levels were really short, which isn't really a problem but I wouldn't liked to see a bit more from some of those.

The bosses are where things become hit or miss, although it's mostly hits. Their attacks and design are pretty cool overall. The hits are big hits, with one of the bosses actually probably becoming one of my favorite fangame bosses in recent memory. The misses are also big misses however, with 1 shining example coming to mind. It's the second-to-last boss, which ends up playing a little bit like a Justice Guy boss. The problem comes with the ridiculously short time between attacks at some point, which can lead to a lot of impossible attacks to dodge, and it's a fairly long fight as well. This issue only gets worse as the fight goes on and the attacks get even more dangerous. I can't say I actually disliked the boss but it was by far the lowest point in the game.

There's also a few secrets in the game, which are not required for anything. They're all pretty easy to find if you just pay attention, although one or two of them are also seem to be "jump at this random wall".

I wouldn't recommend playing the post-game. There's a lot of content in it, but it's somewhere between mediocre and questionable for the most part, and there's a quiz in japanese in there too, so better get ready to trial and error that unless you're a native speaker. The post-game end boss was pretty fun to learn and fight for the most part, but I'm not sure it's worth going through the rest just for that.

At the end of the day, despite a few issues, this is still without question one of the better adventure games I've played in recent times. Highly recommend up to the credits.
