I'm told the difficulty for this game is more like a 70 minimum, so ignore when it says 60-70!

This is a very impressive first game, which felt kind of awkward at times and really fun at others. It's more of a "potential" game to me, where you can see what the creator CAN do, but not what their end goal is. Overall really enjoyable and I would recommend if you can play needle of this difficulty

A note. I tested this, and testers bias is a real thing so take the review with a grain of salt.

This game is pretty good for a first game. It’s relatively comfortable for something of this diff and the maker shows a lot of promise for future games. The tilesets are nothing special but pretty nice, and the game is fun, albeit forgettable. I would enjoy if the creator experimented more in the future. I see quite a bit of potential.

Now that I have finished it, time for a real review.
Pretty hard needle with a huge emphasis on water, and a few vines and platforms. Overall the game is really good with some very interesting segments and ideas. However there are several points that prevent me to give a higher note. I already told to Marc most of them so I'll be short, the first and biggest one is the fact that a lot of saves have at least one or two individual annnoying/tight jump. It's especially true in the first few screens and that's what made me hate them but there are still some occurance of that afterward. A lot of maneuvers that look cool are actually not super pleasant to execute. The second is the floating vines : w ealll know that vines are weird but what many people probably don't know is that if you try to take a floating vine from the bottom, it will push you back. I believe Marc wasn't aware of that because if some are pretty well-used, some force some unpleasant mid-air turn-around.
The game isn't really balance regarding saves and screens, some saves are way longer and harder than some other in the same screens and some screens are way harder than some others, I personally don't really mind but you may want to be careful with that.
I already said it but it's overall a good game if you can overlook some grindy spots, I'm don't know why some people gave it 65 for the difficulty because the hardest parts felt harder than games like Shiver.

20 screens of jtool needle on the harder side of things. As the creator says in the readme, there's no real cohesion between screens, but I was fine with that; every screen is distinct, so it's hard to get bored with the game. I do think that the difficulty between screens is imbalanced enough to be worth mentioning, though. Some screens are technical and grindy, while others are simple enough to be first tried, including the final screen. I think this creator has potential, so hopefully they can smooth out the difficulty issues in their next game and maybe delve into some gimmicks more complex than the standard jtool needle assortment.

Also, the second tileset definitely has visual issues; spikes and blocks are way too similar in color.
