Rating is based on clearing the needle and the avoidance.

Probably my favourite fangame at the moment. I enjoyed every second of this game, it's a very good steins;gate inspired fangame. I watched the first anime, and a bunch of 0, and this game definitely pulls off the steins;gate feel in a fun way. This game pulls off all of its themes really well, and manages to achieve a good difficulty curve, although with the practice tools included the avoidance is a little easier than the needle.

The needle is crafted well with few saves striking out, but the rest is fun enough for the less fun saves to not really be much of a problem. The creator introduces gimmicks well for them to be used again in the game, introducing you to basic gimmicks in the first stage (i.e. vines, jump refreshers, platforms, triggers, etc) with one per screen and then combining the 4 of them for the last room of the stage. Stage 2, is when spikes start being messed with. Stretched spikes, bigger spikes, you name it. Stage 3 is when the orbs get introduced, which is one of the most fun parts in my opinion. They're a bit learny, but they're fun to get used to. Stage 4 is when all of the gimmicks you've been introduced to are brought together. It can make for a fun challenging mix of platforming. After stage 4, you get brought to a trials stage. This is why my rating is a 75. The trials stage is pretty challenging and i'm lucky to have gotten through it as quickly as i did. It's fun though, but has some dumb jumps.

After these 5 stages, you have the avoidance. The avoidance uses the song Gate of Steiner (from steins;gate 0) and it uses a lot of creative attacks, making use of arena changes wisely and actually has a creative way to introduce practice to the player. The practice has 3 warps, one for each chorus, though the third chorus warp is accessed by reaching the repeat of chorus 1 in the song, not the slow part before it. You can unlock practice warps through playing practice warps if you want to, which is what i did to learn the avoidance. None of the attacks are too out of place, and the difficulty is fairly consistent throughout. Each attack is creative and fun to pull off, especially with the banger that the song is.

Overall, i'd consider this a must play fangame if you're good enough to take it on.

Haven't beat yet, will probably update the review later if I beat it.

Having looked up the game's walkthrough videos, I am currently at 4/5 of pre-avoidance part

It is probably too mean to say so, but I think the moving object parts are genuinely a rotten piece of shxt, especially the parts that many high speed killers moving in very unintuitive paths e.g. in top right corner of a screen that 4 or 5 killers moving in different speed in parabola paths, forcing me to blindly move in some paths that "proves not killing you", makes a very frustrating experience and I think it is really irresponsible for a maker to do something unreasonable like this.

I tried to comment after I clear the game, but the unreasonable parts of the game drained all my patience and every screen is holy agony, so I have to leave a comment here, I shall update that later in a medium possibility, in case if I feel like clearing the last screen of shxt(yes, talking about the last screen before the red screen)

To conclude, up to the current progress I have played, I would rather prefer screens of static needle instead of "Gimmicks".

Above is the comment before I clear the screen of messy orbs and enter the last stage before avoidance.

The last stage is pretty well a god-like stage, good visuals, reasonable platforming(except for the last 1 screen of messy orbs again, but the music has made up for the disappointments caused) and esp. brilliant background music, I have not cleared the avoidance yet, but the last stage has totally overriden the negative experience given by the previous rooms.

Steins Gate has a very slow pace starting both in the game and for the anime, but to be honest it is very courageous to do so in gamemaking, if players like me stop playing right before the last stage, the game will end up as a trash game in their mind.

For this reason, I could not give out my 10, but rather a 7, despite the last needle stage that really deserve at least a 9.

Incredible, criminally underlooked game, good and creative yet tough needle and insanely fun avoidance. A bit learny but once you're past that bump it's honestly one of my favorites. The trials segment before the avoidance is pretty tough.

Thanks draconical for making me able to finish this, because i accidentally saved inside a warp which made me unable to complete the game lol
