Review includes spoilers.
Quite underrated Chinese trap fangame from 2022. Beaten it in autumn of 2024, and had a blast of a time, while playing it. However, my ratings are based on beating the whole game, including the final avoidance. If final boss did not exist, my difficulty rating would be 39 and quality rating 7.5.
Anyway, 'guess how kid will die' (also known as '猜猜KID怎么死') leans into typical 'Chinese' trap game style, where you have huge amount of various traps. The charm and the personality present in this game is quite phenomenal.
The visuals are relatively simple - always being in pink or purple tones with a pulsating circles in the centre. However, it goes really well with the theme of this game - the game giving you different type of vague or even absurd hints to guess what is gonna kill you, hence the title of the game.
Now what is immediately extremely funny is the fact that game gives you an option to turn Chinese or English. The English is absurdly broken, but it gives such a charm, that it fits perfectly. Overall, you might not understand all references, but I do not think it is necessary to have fun here.
The traps are quite different, but do expect quite a lot of them on every screen, and also those are not gonna be easy to predict, although when you know what actually is meant with the hints, it gets twice as funny.
You will have situations when you need to backtrack, when you need to do simple dodges or actually think out of the box and not overthinking.
I really loved how there are 2 mini avoidances in this game that fit perfectly with the whole vibe of the game ; I adored the screen with the shadow kid, when you need to think how to actually pass it ; I laughed at different characters trying to kill you in very different ways, starting from random streamers / players and finishing with well known fictional characters. Even the references to a Chinese fangame community or other fangames made me smile indeed.
There are really so many details and things to say about this game. I really recommend trying this game blind or at least looking up the video if you do not like trap genre: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFrk5l8DDAY. It is really original, and I loved seeing author's personality radiating throughout the whole experience.
However, there is one issue.
The final avoidance.
It is just underwhelming. And, you know, I am not really that surprised that it is the case.
This is author's first fully fledged avoidance, and it is just quite bland barrage avoidances with some instagibs and with several attacks that can wall you. It is harder than the rest of the game and is the reason why several people did not finish this game.
And, I am not talking even about the fact that it just does not fit with the game's vibe. It has Fasf's cameo, but I am not even sure why it is there in the first place. Maybe lyrics? I am just confused.
However, if you look up on the author's clear, you will notice something: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1Lq4y1c7p8/. The video is from 2022/February/08. The full game came out on 2022/February/12, which is 4 days after.
The author himself is not necessarily satisfied with the result, and my personal guess is that this probably was made before the rest of the game. Most likely author did not want to discard this avoidance and also did not want to release it separately. It still has that pink-ish tone, so it technically can fit with the game. And probably this is what happened.
My best suggestion would be playing the main part of the game and skipping the final avoidance. Unfortunately, it is not that good, and I can totally see beginner players rage-quitting here. It is not necessarily worth it, and it is disappointing that the overall rating goes drastically down because of this avoidance's existence.
It is still a great game, and I think more people should play it. It is surely memorable and cute indeed. Maybe the finale sucks a bit, but you can always just skip it if you do not feel like playing intermediate avoidances.
So, yeah, I would recommend this if you are looking for these type of trap-heavy games.

This was a fun game. The avoidance was cute but mostly felt like random RNG. I had an issue with the total random part at the end but the game was fun overall.
