what got me into needle games to begin with. probably not the best idea to play this first, as it took me like 30000+ deaths and many, many hours to fully clear?? but i felt like it was worth it and super rewarding to do.

pretty basic platforming/puzzle-ish game with a story to go along with it. although the story's a...bit hard to follow due to the translation being a bit poor. it doesn't detract from it too much, but some things can be a bit odd or weird to read.
aside from that, it's pretty alright and easy to go through. give it a try, if you're new to fangames and wanna give something unique a play.

the version of i wanna be the guy you probably want to play.
it's got some slight flaws that are mostly just the original game's design and not a fault of the remaster, but it doesn't ruin the experience, for me personally. the new additional characters you get adds a TON of replay value, too, especially in the case of the vic viper, boshy and owata.
if you wanted to play the origin point of everything, play it like this!

genuinely probably one of the best fangames ever made. super well designed, just the perfect amount of difficulty, and a love letter to several games, including IWBTG itself and several other fangames.

a fairly fun 100 floor game with some pretty fun bosses. i will say that the game spikes up pretty notably in difficulty nearing the last 20 floors, which can be kind of jarring to someone that's new to fangames or even just challenging bosses.
i'd be inclined to recommend this more to people with prior/basic experience to challenge platforming rather than someone fresh off the block to fangames. regardless, it's still quite enjoyable to play.

As one might expect from a game with so many creators making one floor each, Competitive Tower Climbing is a huge mixed bag. There are a lot of good floors in here, but they're dragged down by some unpleasant ones, with a few really annoying jumps mixed in. The game shines at the end, the screens that break out of the tower are cool visually, and feature some creative layouts.
The biggest detractor from the game is the difficulty balance. I found myself on multiple occasions taking several minutes on a screen only to beat the next in a few tries. Even within screens a lot of saves feel wildly different in terms of difficulty. I think a large balance pass and reordering of screens would've helped this game a lot.
Overall, a decent game that I would recommend, but it certainly has it's low points.
