All ratings include "extra" because it is not really an "extra" after all.
A nice introduction to a chill needle atmosphere of average difficulty and creative level design throughout. It is rather too short to be enjoyable, the death sound is absurdly contrasting with the tone (glad it got changed later because it is painfully distracting) and the difficulty curve is a random series (Google "random series") but the good thing is that this became a series in its own and NineightA kept experimenting.

Marginally better than the first entry, unquestionably the hardest. This is a personal grudge: a chill game works better normally if it is simple in difficulty. Rely the Needle 1 reached what was for me the highest difficulty peak to be chilled, but the challenge here is sometimes way off, and again, difficulty curve is as organized as a trash can. The game especially convinces you that the "extra" must be played, so it is impossible to dismiss that portion from the difficulty rating and personal rating, even if it is only three screens long.
I won't deny that the platforming is creative and the design is very relaxing, until you stumble upon quite harsh screens. The biggest insult this game does is the second extra screen, which I gladly uploaded: a save that includes a plane, a corner and a TAS jump just for making you understand: "Hey! 'Extra' is supposed to be harder yo!"
I still recommend it, but expect difficulty on the level of Neonize the Needle or Clear 50 Neon Floors without the rhyme and reason.
At least the death sound got fixed from this entry forward.

The weakest in the series for me by basically nothing, difficulty was toned down, death sound was maintained, soundtrack is almost as pretty, more chill than part 2 based on difficulty alone and no trash extra screens with buffed jumps. If you're a fan of the series, this is a no-brainer.

Potentially the best in the series. Even the colors seem to communicate something: the background is full of color and beauty, there is a light in the center that The Kid tries to reach, and yet the tilesets and spikes are colorless. They are not only white, they are light gray, contrasting with the title screen.
Much to my pain, soundtrack is not as memorable as Part 1 or 2, and the fact that spikes and platforms look exactly the same, I keep having trouble distinguishing safe areas from death areas. Death sound is even quieter, and the experience is overall nice. Recommended.

The maker finally understands something: a chill experience is supposed to have this flow, this consistency. Purple is used in cute ways and needle is reasonably challenging. Beginners, beware: I didn't use the "Beginner_Friendly" tag this time because I don't really think it applies. It will be a challenge if you don't fully understand all possible extents of both the first and the second jump. Also, the second to last screen has a fall that defies all previously established difficulty standards that seemed like an attempt to go back to the harder jumps by NineightA. Soundtrack is chill and experience is nice, although easily forgettable. This is the closest the series got to the chill quality of Starlit Sky, which I find myself often replaying, and this game will probably not be that case.
The whole series is recommended, but the platforms looking the same as the spikes, the questionable difficulty balance throughout and the limited amount of screens per game stopped these games from being greater. That's, again, like my opinion man.

PDplayer's best game and that's not saying little. About halfway through something happens that is unlike anything I've seen in another fangame - it's worth playing based on that alone.
