For: I Wanna Kill The Blue Mage 2
Blue Mage 2 is a Needleventure game that I really ended with mixed feelings on. It was neat for the start but started to drag on more than I wished, and I'm not quite sure if I like it or not.
The needle in the game was absolutely generic to the point of becoming boring, the sword gimmick made it a bit cleaner but even then I feel like there could have just been less platforming in this. Almost every save in this has some form of gate jump or diagonal, after a hundred saves of that it just becomes completely repetitive. There's nothing too atrocious in the needle atleast, besides some of the final saves as well as the ice screens, but it just wasn't interesting either.
The bosses are different, they're mostly very enjoyable. A lot of them use attacks you can probably dodge on your first try or atleast get a good understanding of quickly. Using the sword you can make most fights pretty fast, though later I felt as if some bosses had a bit too much HP. But now I'll mention my biggest problem, holy fucking shit is the secret red Touhou boss garbage. It's completely unbalanced and way harder than anything else in the game, took me longer than every other boss combined, the intermission is pretty damn bad, the orange attack was kind of bullshit a lot of times due to the random bullets she shoots in the beginning, and overall I think this boss completely ruined my enjoyment for the game. It should have been left as an optional secret, because after playing it for a hour at first I decided not to do it, having it made required later was a distasteful move.
Last thing I'll mention is that the end of the game feels completely odd. The storyline drops off completely, you don't get a clear screen or credits, and you fight three unrelated bosses without stages between them. It really makes it feel like the game was just cancelled near the end and everything got thrown together to get it out, I think if you just cut some of the earlier stages and moved them here you could have had a more well-paced stage five. (I did like the fights here though atleast).
Overall, some parts of it are good, a lot of parts are generic needle, and one boss is the most infuriating thing I've played in a long while. Don't know if I'd recommend it, this kind of just feels like another Meltdown situation where a game has soured with age.

I have mixed thoughts on this game. The needle has a lot of variance in quality, some saves are pretty good, some are pretty annoying, most are kinda forgettable. There's definitely highlights like I said and there's definitely a decent amount to enjoy, but some things were just not for me, which was sad because I like most needle. The final boss I hated, I don't think it's bad but it's mega annoying with tons of mechanics which are frustrating, plus the ending can feel a bit luck based. The highlight was the last 10 floors of needle, each one was pretty awesome, but I think even with those I left this game feeling slightly negatively towards it.

Visuals are fine, music is pretty good.
Needle is great, with unique and fun gameplay utilizing just the basic gimmicks (vines, platforms, water, and a little bit of gravity switching). Balance was mostly good, but in stage 4 there were a couple saves that were way easier than the rest.
Was pretty hard for me, though may be inflated by poor vine skill and playing most of it on a crappy keyboard.
