Cosmoing
A forgotten gem from 2012, MAo Trap is an interesting take on a medley game. The hub is a classic adventure open-world stage select albeit a bit small, and the levels are medleys of games, such as a LoveTrap stage or a Heaventrap stage. You beat the medley stages and collect the required secrets, then move on to a final few stages.
Production value is fairly low as you would expect, mostly using tilesets from classic games. MIDIs are plentiful as well, but the few original stages do have passable visuals.
I don't have much to say about the platforming other than it's mostly hard needle and there was a surprising lack of traps. Other than 1, the secrets were all in fairly creative places and the stages are short so secret hunting wasn't too painful. The original stages were also good, with what even felt like a decent spotlight gimmick in one of them.
The bosses were easily my favorite part of the game, being original takes on bosses from the games being medleyed (is this a word?). I enjoyed pretty much every single one of them and in some parts even felt like they were better versions of the originals. The game does end on a long avoidance, but you're given dotkid and it felt very fair for nearly its entirety. Not much to complain about in this department!
It's honestly remarkable how much I enjoyed this game's ideas and execution. Although the platforming is nothing special, if you can handle the difficulty then I think you'll have a great time with this one.
And everyone needs to watch the intro.

Interesting adventure fangame that's actually quite old. It's a take on a medley type game, incorporating references and room layouts/bosses from other fangames, and making it's own stages out of them. For the most part it's pretty standard, however there were some quality dips, mostly the platforming in the original stages, which I thought was a little weaker than the main game, especially the darkness area. The final boss is cool, however it is WAY harder than the rest of the game, being a 6 minute long barrage avoidance. While never too hard, it's quite the endurance test, and I can see even a decently experienced player getting stuck there. It's still a solid game, albeit a flawed one, and maybe not the best aged.
