Be Myself is a very well produced game, full of gimmicks, varied stages, mind-bending plot twists and even a lesson or two about friendship. My enjoyment varied quite frequently due to the general level and boss design not always being my kinda thing, but I can appreciate the game for what it is and can definitely say it's a memorable fangame experience.
The game's primary gimmick of sorts features you being able to swap between a small selection of characters, each with their own powers and drawbacks. The variation between these characters is pretty cool, and the stages are usually designed in a way that requires you to switch on the fly which makes the platforming feel quite fast-paced. Bosses are done similarly, making use of attacks that force you to think fast and make use of your little squad of scallywags.
I felt like the game design in general got better for me towards the end, particularly in the boss fights. Some of the earlier bosses felt quite tedious and drawn-out for me and ended up feeling like they could've done with a lot less HP. The last few in the game though I loved and thought were very intense, making good use of the character switching. I also enjoyed the general platforming more in the later stages, as some early parts (particularly chapter 2) just didn't feel all that fun to play. I think this is mainly just a personal preference though.
I wasn't crazy about a good portion of the design in the game, but I could still appreciate it a great deal. The ambitious story and the wide variety of content including puzzles and bonus challenges make for a memorable time, and I really do wish I enjoyed it more than I did. Maybe if the game ever gets finished, SirRouven will polish up the game's weak spots and round off the game to a great state. Even still, it's well worth a play as it is.

This game has a lot of great ideas, some of the most fascinating I've seen in a fangame, but I'm the kind of person who far prefers good execution over good ideas, and in that department, the game is lacking in my opinion. The early game is horribly dull, and I think even a lot of people who like this game can agree with that. It's very basic, but about 1/3rds into the admittedly quite large demo the game becomes a lot more complex with the fundamental mechanics, but I personally just don't think the design is that great. A lot of platforming is either boring or tedious, and the bosses, while some are okay like the first boss and boo boss, some are just not fun at all, especially the final boss of the most recent version (0.7) which is the Crystal King from paper mario, which just feels insanely luck based. Also the bosses have a lot of mashing, which normally doesn't bother me, but here it's pretty bad. Not much in this game was like downright awful, but I can't really say there was anything that stuck out as super fun to play, which really sucks when the game took over 6 hours to finish. Great ideas, especially considering how old the game is, but I never really got into this one, although it's obvious why others like it.

When I was a freshman, I was inspired to play when I saw a Korean YouTuber broadcast the game. The YouTuber said it wasn't fun, but on the contrary, I cleared it all in a fun and not boring way based on version 1.7. This game is very difficult to play against the boss. Be careful when you play.
