Updating the review now that I cleared the Extra.
It's a nice game to play through overall. But I do not recommend Extra. The gimmick for the one platforming screen was cool but got frustrating trying to figure the pathing and timing solution. Avoidance was bad too with a precise pattern at the start and apparently it's unfinished with the final 30 seconds being nothing.
Seeing how I saw in a review saying that Sudnep wasn't happy with how Extra turned out and was scrapped, I can see why.
Rating is for the base game. Extra alone is a 3.5-4/10.

Anime is a short adventure game with 3 stages, each having a boss (or avoidance in one case). Ultimately, I found myself pretty disappointed with how bland the game was. The majority of the content wound up being needle, much of which was frustratingly full of named jumps. The gimmicks are just basic triggers, and a color switching gimmick, neither of which is used in any way I haven't seen before. There is a stage that starts with some cool arcade game inspired sections, but then it transitions to another four needle substages.
The bosses were alright overall, but definitely a bit unpleasant. The avoidance is decently cool, with only a few learny bits. However, it's the easiest of the three, so it wasn't much of my playthrough. The middle boss was really annoying, it requires a lot of mashing, and the attacks are kinda unfun. For example, one attack throws spinning card projectiles that depending on animation can be easy to dodge or huge. The third boss is the destination fight featured in Cultured 2. It's probably my favorite, with each attack requiring a different playstyle to dodge, which is a good thing to achieve in a destination fight. The final phase unfortunately continues the annoying required mashing.
One final thing, I felt that the anime theme was sorely lacking for a game named "anime". The bosses were anime characters, sure, but the stages were utterly devoid of any such theming, instead opting for rather generic feels. I think the game would've been more memorable if it leaned into this more.
Overall, I wouldn't really recommend this game. Nothing it does is particularly memorable, and other games have done all these ideas much better. At the same time, it's not horrible, so it might be worth a playthrough to some people.

Cool older game with some nice variety in gimmicks and a great aesthetic. Gameplay holds up and the charm is in spades.

Based on 100 % clear. Mostly great game when it comes to platforming - pretty interesting design of gimmicks, i really liked stage 1, which is trigger heaven, and stage 3, which is honestly one of the best switch platforming i've ever played. Stage 2 was also honestly not that bad, but kinda below those two. Also liked "secrets" a lot, especially buffed minigames in stage 2. Extra is very questionable tho, needle screen was okay, but avoidance is dumb, not worth going for
Bosses were also kinda okay, even tho they didn't feel like highlights and they were harder than stages by quite a lot. Avoidance of stage 1 was whatever ig, even tho it was fine and intense at the end. Boss of stage 2 has pretty insane mid-phase with a lot of bounces, that can destroy you blocks, and since you has small space by default, it become quite hellish and i actually not enjoyed this. Boss of stage 3 tho was decent Destination-like, but what is dragging both bosses down is fact that they are heavy on mashing
Overall, it was decent. If you search for light on traps adventure with pleasant visual style, this might be your choice
P.S: Death sounds sucks
