Does objectivity of design really matter that much when it's fun anyway?

Gel is probably what a lot of people imagine they picture a luck based avoidance, and it's easy to see why with it's blistering fast attacks, nonsense curving, wacky bouncing, basically everything you've heard someone complain about being bullshit in an avoidance is probably in Gel. In spite of that I think there's plenty to like here. Attack 2 is pretty interesting, having tricky curving mixed with bouncing where you need to manage space well, the bouncing attack after the rain is cool, it sometimes bothered me but it's mostly a fun reading challenge which can get very claustrophobic at times. The drop is also great, I'll take about the unfairness a bit later but I think for what it's trying to do, it's well executed and mostly manageable.
Some points where the avoidance falters are in two attacks and the luck element. The attacks that bother me are the intro, which is just not that fun to read and mega obnoxious if you start dying to it over and over, and the build up, a super nasty high speed attack which is easily the most luck based part of the fight, as if it forces a jump at the end it can be impossible to survive. The RNG in this fight is such a mixed bag, it's not absolutely atrocious but basically every attack can range from literally nothing can kill you to absolutely absurd to read. There are points where the RNG is humorous and points where it really, REALLY isn't. I do think at the end of the day the fight is skill based, and your skill will matter much more than your luck, but sometimes you really just can't do anything because the boss says "No."
I used to hate this avoidance, but not so much anymore. It's deeply flawed but I think it's enjoyable if you have enough skill that beating it wouldn't be a herculean feat. It's extremely annoying, but within an incredibly hostile and questionably designed exterior, there's some fun to be had.
