It's one of those games that's like, 'difficulty doesn't means it's bad' type of game. Design wise it's actually quite good in my opinion, music might get a bit annoying after playing it more than a few hours, but I don't mind it too much. If you enjoy grinding needle out, this might be the game for you.

Rating based on the sweet old version.
Extremely difficult and really fun needle game. It consists of only eight saves, but each of these saves is a compilation of many curious and really difficult jumps. The jumps are mostly creative and different from each other, so understanding how each jump works and getting more and more consistent at them is actually pretty fun, which makes the massive grind worth it.
The first, the fifth and the last saves easily stand out as the hardest in the game, which could make the other saves boring and unrewarding to beat, but they are still challenging on their own way and fun to grind, so they end up being nice breaks between the bigger challenges instead.
The only part of the game I really despised was the third save. The first jump felt really blocky and annoying to pull off, and then slowing down to grab the align to do another weird jump, and having to redo everything every time I died at a later jump, was pretty infuriating, to say the least.
The rest of the game more than makes up for that save, though. The visuals are pretty cool, the music is nice and the death sound isn't a huge bother. And the most important feature in the game, you can press 'a' to get the right aligns for each jump, so that you don't have to find them out yourself.
It's certainly worth playing if you are a seasoned needle player. Highly recommended.
Side note as of 2022: I still stand by my rating for this guy. It's like triple the difficulty of Phonotaxis.

EDIT: The new version has come out now and it looks a lot better so I would highly recommend playing the new version rather than the old version unless you want more stylish points.
However, my rating is based on the old version.
This game is certainly something else. This is an 8 screen needle game styled to be like fly the far away. This game has some of the most unique and interesting looking jumps I had ever seen and it felt good to do every jump. The tileset and background are very well done and perfectly fit with the "nightmare feel". Even the kids sprite is different; looking somewhat like a zombie. I also liked how this game includes align markers; if you press "a" on a keyboard a red line will appear against the wall.
This game's platforming is also very good with only 2 major issues preventing people from wholeheartedly enjoying it. The first issue is how 3 screens of the 8 are harder than everything else in the game. The first save in particular, was one of the worst saves I've ever played because of a v-string jump and squished t-bone plane. The second issue was how this game follows the formula of having almost all the hard jumps at the start of the save and ending it off with an extremely hard jump as well. I feel if this game had some balancing done on it I would have absolutely loved my time with this game and would have given it a 9.0 in rating.
The creator is making an update for this game balancing the 3 hard screens so I look forward to changing my review once it comes out. I highly recommend playing this game once the update comes out to get the most out of the experience.

fantastic needle game, every save holds up to this day and is really really fun. perfect difficulty and perfect length. along with the needle itself, I love the visuals and the general theme as well, it really has the vibe you'd expect from a game called "I wanna be the Nightmare". this game is often overlooked, which is quite a shame since it's really fun and well-made. not a single jump in this game I'd call unfun or unoriginal, there isn't like any notably difficult named jumps to speak of in this entire game
I cleared this on the 9th anniversary of this game's release, happy birthday Nightmare!
