Terazone is a very interesting adventure game based upon a variety of stages, each taking heavy influence from 7 different games, these being KINOKO & GAL, World of Goo, Oddworld, Metal Gear, Ib, A Link to the Past and Tower of Heaven. This makes for a very varied experience that ends up hitting the mark the majority of the time.

You're free to tackle these stages in any order you wish, as they're scattered throughout a little hub with visuals reminiscent of Go Across the Rainbow. Important to note this game is incomplete, and there are a couple segments unreachable, blocked with demo blocks. Each stage has a difficulty rating out of 5 stars and often features very different gameplay from the last. To delve into some specifics, I'll go into spoiler territory.

The first stage I stumbled into was the KINOKO & GAL stage, also the one rated the highest. I felt this was by far the weakest point of the game, with it being a NES-sort-of style game featuring enemies, traps and long'ish segments. Some parts got very tedious to go through and it was also the longest stage by far, although perhaps down to the difficulty and troubles I had. The other stages lifted my spirits a lot though. World of Goo is a really fun stylistic stage albeit lacking the classic Goo physics, Oddworld a classic homage to the Abe games with some fun references and the Ib stage being quite a spooky little adventure reminiscent of The Cardinal House. I wasn't overly fond of some design choices in the Link to the Past stage, mixed with my poor map-memorization skills, but there's definitely something for everyone in here.

After beating all 7 stages, you're left to just wander the hub and reflect on your journey. There's no clear screen or real GG to speak of, so whichever portal you go in last, make sure to cherish it's ending well. I actually tried savehacking past the demo blocks to investigate the out-of-reach portals. One just leads to the KINOKO & GAL stage and the other leads to what seems to have been planned for a Sherlock Holmes stage, although after a brief intro it just cuts to a broken colour screen. It'll be interesting to see if this ever gets updated, although almost 2 years on now I'm not so sure.

Definitely worth a play. The huge amount of variety will guarantee you'll find a stage or two that you'll love. IF you're unsure, I'd actually maybe recommend just playing the stages that seem most appealing to you (you can leave stages with BACKSPACE), and then just considering the rest if you feel like getting that clear bonus. But yeah, a pretty solid adventure game for sure.

This game could've been amazing, but there are two things holding it back: It's unfinished, for one, but most importantly some of the stages are just outwardly not fun. I really wanted to enjoy all of this game but it feels so frustrating sometimes. For it's effort and creativity I'm still ranking it somewhat high though. I definitely enjoyed some of the stages, but KINOKO & GAL and Oddworld were just absolutely not for me, the long saves where messing up meant death were just so annoying.

That being said, the good segments are just so high rate I can't keep this a fully negative review. Some of the things in the game are genuinely great! so, I would recommend trying out a few of the worlds. If you like them, stick with them. If you don't, back out.

To start, the concept of this game is really cool, take wildly different games and translate them into IWBTG, often taking major mechanics and elements of these games to make every stage feel distinct. There is one stage in this game I truly enjoyed, and it's the tower of heaven stage. It's not amazing but it's charming and fun. Every other stage in this game feels like a ginormous waste of time.

The majority of gameplay in this game is not engaging or interesting, it often follows absolutely mindnumbing platforming or worse, walking around like a dumbass. The zelda and Ib stages are the worst in this regard, often featuring very nothing gameplay, particularly the zelda stage which is mind numbing and has a pretty harsh punishment for dying. The world of goo and metal gear stages just feel so bland, and the odd world stage is so tedious and repetitive as well, with you trying to sneak around enemies while slowly gathering a line of blue kid heads. It's cute but it get's old the second you realize how absolutely nothing the gameplay is, and how much waiting around there is. The absolute worst of it is the Kinoko & Gal stage, annoying enemies, abysmal traps in super long saves, genuinely awful cycles, it's some of the most frustrated I've been playing a fangame. It's really unfortunate because I do believe this game has tons of potential, but in my opinion it just fails to live up to any of it at all, even the bosses are tedious and uninteresting. Not for me.

Of all the unfinished fangames on Delfruit this might actually be the most impressive one in my eyes, if it was complete it would be a solid contender for one of the best Adventure games out there.

Terazone is a collection of various game-themed worlds that have an incredible amount of variance and excitement for the player. At one point you'll be using the mouse to place down fellas in a World of Goo stage that is beautiful and enjoyable, later you'll need to free your friends in a stage of Oddworld. There's a dungeon from Zelda LTTP to play, a really cool metal gear themed facility, and a great IB stage. Each of these have their own bosses, some are a bit lesser in quality probably due to being unfinished, but some are pretty awesome. Of course one of the stages, based on Kinoko, is severely flawed to the point I can't recommend playing it. Everything else in the game though is quite amazing and I hope this one day will be finished. Additional cool factors come from a rather simple but neat Hub, as well as the game having a titlescreen that changes as you beat more stages, and an achievement system.

I really do hope to see this game finished one day, it has so much potential that it's insane. For now though, I got almost three hours of play out of it so it's still worth your time.
