edit 2: i am now convinced this game is modern performance art
edit: it appears its not actually that bad lol
i wouldn't recommend it but its pretty hilarious with the bad rng so if you're into that then go ahead
13 hours of ingame time as of writing this
i had a pretty harsh review and it got removed, and i do not care enough to write something else
in short, just a greatly unfun experience that had way too much of an emotional impact on me
the rating stays

Dancer is one of the hardest taisa fights out there, on the surface it has a lot of the staples of this sub-genre of avoidance, lengthy, lots of barrage attacks, stuff like that. However the more you dig into Dancer the more you realize this game is special, because almost everything this game does is done in possibly the worst way it could be done. To start, the RNG in this game is abominable. So many attacks which are just blatantly unfair like the curving in phase 1 or the horrible 3 wave attack which is just so blatantly bullshit, it makes attempts past phase 1 such a rarity when they really don't have to be. Phase 2 is in theory the good one but it's sandwiched between a major roadblock and the brutal ending, so every single death to this phase will feel like you wasted your opportunity at a phase 3 attempt. Phase 3 is just absurd to be so late in this fight, it's extremely unbalanced and just stupidly hard, especially the final attack which is by far the hardest attack in the entire game, especially inconvenient at the end of a 7 minute avoidance. The attacks themselves are boring and uninteresting, a few phase 2 attacks are fun to read but for the most part this game is dodging attacks which are faux interesting, they look interesting but the way you read them is about as stale as a barrage attack can be. The music is also not great, the phase 1 song is just not super fitting for a taisa, it's not intimidating or imposing at all, and the phase 3 song is rather anticlimactic. All of these things combine to make a game which is an absolute dumpster fire, I did actually have fun with this, I wouldn't have beaten it if I did not, but I would never under any circumstances recommend playing this. It's one of the worst avoidances you can spend your time on. Stay far, far away.
Edit: After clearing, watching other people in the community play and talk about this game has made me realize that it brings me a joy no other fangame can and probably ever will. Iruenn says it best, it's modern performance art that you should play and make all of your friends play.
