Wasn't too sure what to expect going into this one, as it's from the maker of Cruise the 6 islands, world famous fangame. Can't say I'm too disappointed with the results though, although it had a few standout terrible moments. This is a trap adventure with a few gimmicks thrown in here and there to keep things exciting, 5 stages with bosses + extra.
Something that I'm honestly always really excited when I see in fangames is cutscenes and story, because I don't think we get enough of that. And this game delivers quite beautifully here, with an honestly pretty solid story told through visuals rather than text. It's very basic but done really well and I can't help but commend that.
The gameplay itself is mostly alright, basic trap needle platforming. There's a fair amount of enemies, at least 1 unique enemy per stage that you'll be dealing with, and for the most part they're interesting. They all have a theme to go with as well, but the execution on this front left me wanting a bit more. As for the bosses, the first one was pretty cool with how you had to damage it, but the others felt very basic and could've used a bit more work. The first of my standout terrible moments happened in stage 3, with one save having 6 end-of-save traps after 30s of platforming. It just feels terrible to play and I can't see why anyone would do this.
The final stage is by far the high point of this game. It's mostly a puzzle area with blocks that you can only touch once and colored objects that disappear when you destroy the corresponding color gem. It had good screens that made me think, and some of the solutions felt great to discover and execute. I would highly recommend playing this just for this stage. The final boss as well is pretty cool and I would really like it, but the last phase is a bit too hard for my liking compared to the rest.
I'll talk about extra a bit as well because the last screen of extra is one of my 2 standout terrible moments, but it could be wrong. EX is a continuation of the great final stage with puzzles, adding in more gimmicks seen throughout the game and increasing in complexity. All of these are awesome as well. The final screen is a 3-screen puzzle featuring just about everything you've seen in this so far, and it honestly blew my mind when I pieced the solution together. However, one element in the puzzle was probably changed late in production and it ruins one part of the solution: you now have to do a double diamond missing the top middle spike, twice. I couldn't find a way to get around this, although the intended path was pretty clear: it really does feel like something was changed without thinking about other elements of the puzzle it could affect. This is why the difficulty is 70: without this, I would probably give this a 55. Potentially the saddest fangaming experience I'll ever have, no one wants to see a ruined puzzle especially on that scale.
Despite some of these issues, I'm still pleased I chose to play this. I hope some of the problems get changed as this would be a really awesome game without it. But nonetheless, even as it is, I would still recommend it.
