As an actual review, I think this is a step back from Arzztt's previous work. Look Inside is a game in which Arzztt tries to go in a new direction from his previous games by making a more adventurous game with experimental stages. It still manages to be somewhat humorous and special in its own way. It's pretty much a game that only Arzztt could make.

However, with this new direction comes some growing pains. Stages focused on specific minigames and mechanics tend to be hit or miss. The Yakuza minigame gave me a sort of sensory overload and frustrated me from what felt like a sort of strange visual challenge. I doubt it was intended to be that way but every time I got hit I felt like I didn't even see the spike until after it hit me. The stage involving Walter was a cool idea but the boss fight ultimately felt somewhat lucky to me. Stages like the car minigame or the home depot stage on the other hand were massive hits for me and I couldn't stop smiling when playing them.

The platforming in this game often does not appeal to me on the same level that other arzztt games do. Throughout my time playing it, it almost felt as if Arzztt was dumbing his ideas down, or that he was almost ashamed of his previous works and wanted to make something as far from needle as possible. The puzzle stage for instance is just less fun and more annoying to me than pretty much any puzzle-y pathing arzztt has shown to be capable of making. The bounce block stage similarly suffers from small levels of annoyance that prevent the gimmick from feeling as fun as it possibly could be. The random background image stage seems to be an attempt at abstract platforming and yet it feels like it would be standard or lesser needle in pretty much every other maker's game. The final stage, walter stage platforming, the hub, and the grasslands stage manage to be highlights for me in terms of this more adventure-like platforming due to a high amount of variety and what feels like an actual full realization of the concepts at play.

As an aside for me, while some of the humor in this game works, I think I felt oftentimes like it was based on some sort of inside joke I just didn't get. It actually sort of relates to a general personal problem I have with fangame humor. Fangames have been around for 15 years now and its inevitable that they have developed a bevy of inside jokes and humor related to it. What makes some of the humor in this game fall flat for me is that it doesn't really try to introduce its own sort of spice to the mix. There wasn't really any humor that caught me off guard. It all felt as if the humor was like "Oh I know that thing because it's been posted in community servers dozens of times." Maybe I just don't vibe with it is all.

Look Inside is a game where we are asked to look inside the mind of arzztt, and while a lot of this game doesn't work for me, I think arzztt overall succeeded in his goal. I think that venturing into a new style comes with a lot of fumbles, and arzztt has taken a big creative risk with this game. I appreciate that. I hope that in the future if arzztt continues to go down this path of making more adventure-heavy games that he learns to not entirely ignore his past collection and to sharpen the overall nuggets that have potential but could work better.

I think this game embodies the entity that is the IWBTG fangame perfectly. Years of fangame history are behind this game and it replicates a feeling that I haven't seen a fangame have in many many years.

You can tell this is a game the maker had fun making and that's the type of energy I like seeing in my fangames. Arzztt took what he loved about fangames and made a fangame out of it, not caring about its "production value" or whatever buzzword you could throw at it. You could craft the most beautiful landscapes and graphics I've ever seen and it wouldn't have the same impact on me as this game did because you did it to make it look good, not to make it actually mean something to you.

I think you can get a higher sense of appreciation for this game if you actually understood the references it makes though, so it may be lost on the crowd that doesn't branch out and explore. If you play fangames for needle or for the challenge or for whatever have you then you likely won't appreciate this game the same way someone like me would.

I only rate this slightly lower than VoVoVo because I got mad at Club Sunshine, admittedly hard to see the spikes with the mess of money being spawned towards the end; but it's still a great stage in a game filled to the brim with soul.

When I started this game and saw the hub, I thought it could have potential, because spoilers, the hub is better than 80% of this game. But then I started clearing the stages and then the quality just starting to dip.

I'll talk about two stages in particular that I enjoyed, first the car stage.
Although not particularly amazing, it's funny and it's fun to control, the parking part was kinda obnoxious but overall it's not that bad.

The puzzle stage is my favorite part of the game, it has great ideas, great execution and great design.

The other stages... well those are just bad, one is a black stage that only has a Foxy jumpscare... great. Other stage is a school stage where if you fail you have to redo everything again, it gets really annoying, and the stage that just made me not wanna bother anymore is the specimen stage, which honestly is a meme that has me really tired, I don't know what's supposed to be funny about it but they just keep putting it in. That stage was just a slog, it's slow and boring and the boss just wasn't fun

As always, arzztt never disappoint.
Needleventure game consisting of 10 stages totally disconnected from each others. I cannot say I was of fan of everything but there was a lot of unique things such as of course the car and many cool gimmicks. I still think the race should have like 1 more second of leeway but it was really fun nevertheless, outside is dangerous stage was probably my least favorite if we don't count the jumpscare one and the quizz has some questions where you need some deep knowledge to answer.

A very good game I was waiting for, the lack of coherence makes it a bit weird but I believe it's done on purpose.
