This has nothing to do with the others in the series and it's so terrible.

If you like the original game a lot there's definitely fun to be had in this game. A lot of the qualities that make the original so fun and exciting are still here and awesome. This version has super wonky balancing though, with 2 attacks towards the end carrying a ton of the difficulty. The beginning can also be kinda inconsistent which can get a little dull at points. Still it's fun especially as you get better, Count 0 is just a cool game.

Humble Abode is the first of Randy's "Humble Series" of adventure games. It's a series of games I really love, one of my overall favorite fangame series. It makes sense, then, that I really liked this game! However, perhaps due to it being the first, it was a little rough around the edges. But as my rating might suggest, I don't find those rough patches to be too big of a detractor from the game.
The focus of the game is on the platforming, which is done in the style of Wonderful's games. Randy is primarily an avoidance maker, but I've always felt like his needle is super amazing. That remains true here, with many floors of high quality platforming available. The one thing is that due to being in Wonderful's style, it doesn't feel like the gimmick needle Randy's style usually is based on. This isn't necessarily a downside, since I love Wonderful stuff too, but I did miss Randy's normal design a bit.
There's also guest stages, which in general were one of the rough edges I mentioned. They all had some really good ideas, but most of them were a pretty big difficulty spike from the rest of the game, making for a bit of a rough transition. Also, egg's stage had one save where you had to basically pick between a plane or a corner with some other bullshit after. That save was a bit unpleasant.
The game also has bosses, which are very Wonderful style short and simple fights. They were all pretty cool, while remaining easy enough that they were fast clears even for someone bad at bosses like me. The game has two final bosses, an original hard boss and an alternate super boss. This is maybe my biggest complaint with the game. The original fight is very cool, but it's much harder than the rest of the game, and it has some rng that can be super brutal deep into a long fight. I think an extra hp or two would really help this fight. The alt fight was a good idea due to that difficulty, but it winds up being very anticlimactic since it's only a few seconds long.
Overall though, a really fun needle-venture game. It was fun to find out where the style that defines some of my favorite fangames originated!
