For: Mio Pokes The Carmine Needle

This game starts off strong with a funny sequence and some really nice art in Mio's home. I really like everything up until the hub since it has an adventure game feel. When the hub stages start, it looses that unfortunately and feels a lot more messy. The beginning actually looks like a cave, but I just don't like the aesthetic of the mess of spikes that most of the post hub part of the game is. Most of the gameplay is after the hub though, and it does a good job. There are quite a few unique gimmicks and they are fun most of the time except for a few uncomfortable parts of gameplay. There's the dialogue, which I like a lot and I think adds a lot to the game. The game unfortunately ends abruptly which is unfortunate because I wish there could be a conclusion to the story, and the final stage is too short.

I hope this game could get an update since I think a proper ending and smoothing out the gameplay overall would go a long way.

I have not beaten the game, because the last screen (after the fog has lifted) is really fucked. Getting there however, was the most satisfying ftfa-like save I've ever beaten. i find the jumps overall pretty satisfying and it ends with a jump where you need a specific v-align to bhop over the tip of a spike and reach the ledge by a single pixel. I adore that jump because its so tense, especially because i used a lengthy v-align setup. I wish the save ended there, or was doable because the part after has all the hardest jumps of the whole save, and I gave up. The visuals are amazing, and probably my favorite part of the game. It goes with the gameplay to make a really memorable experience. I just wish it wasn't stupidly hard at the end. I'm pretty much ignoring the ending in my rating, but I imagine it would be pretty miserable to actually grind since the ending would be the only part that mattered.

i like this game quite a bit. all the stuff kelvar points out kinda makes it funnier. its clearly very low effort, since its just borrowed screens with one tileset but the screens give off a perfect "low score on delfruit vibe" that i personally love. i also have always found this meme pretty funny lol
