There are some pretty cool jumps in this game and some pretty fun manuvers. The music choice is pretty good but The visuals oddly enough made the experience worse for me. Would recommend if you want an easier precision needle game.

Pretty bad save balance and with one save in particular that's pretty egregious. There are some okay jumps but I wasn't really a fan.

Genuinely dogshit! I don't really enjoy giving overly negative reviews because I like to think that maybe something just isn't for me and I'm too harsh. I don't personally have too much of an issue giving this rating specifically because Gustav isn't really in fangames anymore; plus he also went on to make works that are much better even if I'm personally not a fan of those either. At the very least with Gustav's other works I understand the appeal. Here, I don't even see that. I don't see any reason to play this other than for series completion or the K2 challenge. There is legitimately no fun to be had with the platforming and the bosses are incredibly tedious save for one of them which I found decent until I got hit with a post-boss trap. Which boss? Good question, given that my previous sentence doesn't narrow it down at ALL. Every single boss in this game except for the last one has at least one trap that you can die to after killing it, and frankly you probably will at least once.
For me, a good trap game has to feel playful. It's like having a friend you've known for a long enough time that you can be roasted by them and not feel bad about it. It's definitely rude, but if you're close enough, it feels more like affection. In my opinion, a trap game should feel like that. All the post-boss traps in this game are NOT that. They're like a bully that shoves you into a locker, takes your lunch money, and then insults your intelligence.
I don't think I would mind as much if there was anything else compelling about the game inbetween the bosses, but frankly the platforming design is bottom tier and filled with excessive generic traps, boring room layouts, and excessive waiting for platform cycles.

This review is based on getting the True Ending
Zakiwana is fascinating because the game does a lot of things you probably have never seen before, the sheer amount of creativity on display is admirable, and the game is quite large. There's definitely a lot of parts of the game I deeply appreciate, however I have some pretty major reservations about the actual gameplay of the game. Note a part of this is due to the fact I don't speak Japanese, so some elements were probably much worse than they should have been.
A large part of the platforming in this game is sort of dull to me, there's good moments for sure and funny traps, but I think in general a lot of stuff feels sort of repetitive or tedious, which is a running issue I had with this game. The stage with the spinning roulette and the luck path after the factory were both quite enjoyable, but a bulk of the stages were pretty forgettable outside of atmosphere.
The bosses are a mixed bag, there's some good ones, but there's two MAJOR misses for me, the miku avoidance at the end, and the boss after (specifically after the checkpoint in it) I found both of these absolutely miserable, very boring fights, the true final boss that comes after was pretty cool but honestly, I think once you reach the part of the council of suika, miku, and the last boss, it's not really that worth it to continue, even if the ending is pretty cathartic. I will say, towards the 2/3rds mark, there's an absolutely lovely 10 phase cherry boss which I loved, easily the best part of the game, super cool stuff.
I think the running theme of this game is I would probably enjoy it a lot more if it was easier, a lot of the content just isn't very fun to play over and over particularly for the harder boss fights, and in general it just grew tiring after a while. I'm very far from a "difficulty = bad" person, but I just think for the vibe this game is going for, an easier experience would be so much smoother. Still, the game is so unique and creative, and the good parts were quite fun even if I really don't like some of the endgame bits and the journey to get there in the first place was rather bumpy. Not to my taste but definitely a game I deeply respect.

hi, im a friend of the creator, first i want to say that the game is an obvious joke as the tile set is the persons pfp and the level design is pretty generic, i havnt beat the game but i have some things that i dont like, for example the fact that the background sometimes blends with the red spikes, either change the spikes or the background, and second is the fact that none of the saves have bullet blockers, some screens like the angry bird chase scene have some cheese in it, luckly its not that mmuch. In summary: the game is pretty bland with only 1 (?) gimmick and its only used once ('?).
