Roubaozi is definitely one of my favorite needle makers at this point, and his insane ideas and pathing consistently impress me—with a handful of secret areas in this game being especially absurd. I was constantly looking forward to seeing what wacky shenanigans would come next, and several saves were so amazing that I was genuinely smiling ear-to-ear at what he managed to come up with (which is even more impressive knowing that this game was made in only 2 months).
Unfortunately, even though there is a lot to love about "New Year 2025," there is one large and rather glaring issue. While some of the secret entrances are super clever or just generally fun to pull off, others ended up being uncomfortably difficult or extremely unclear with regards to what to do. I think if this game had a bit more time to cook and really nail down those secret entrances—as well as the balance of the secret areas contained within—it would've been an exceptional experience. Of course it was still fantastic overall, but when one of the secret entrances seemed like it could've been in the top 3 coolest things in the whole game but actually ended up just being a fake block, I couldn't help but feel disappointed about what could've been.
I also feel the desire to mention that this game very much has its share of jank with regards to how some mechanics function and how Roubaozi presents the overall package, but honestly those kinds of things add a bit of silly charm that makes it feel more endearing. For the rest of my feelings on "New Year 2025," you can refer to Gab's review.
Would recommend if you're a gamer looking for a difficult time and can deal with some jank and nonsense.

i like these sort of small challenge rooms that ive seen in a few games but eventually the game loses that theme and the screens eventually just become the entire, well, screen. theres also some pretty chokable jumps here and there, but otherwise a neat game

Pretty cool boss. I generally liked a lot of the attacks in this boss, though there were some moments that kind of bothered me. A couple patterns were like weirdly precise, and some of the RNG was rather annoying due to it being very all over the place. At least it was really clean visually, and the pacing was good.

A short needle game where you unlock various abilities that can be performed by doing certain keyboard inputs. The concept is great, and the selection of spells is conducive to fun, flowy needle. Chaining flips, dashes, and leaps to make cool movements was a blast.
Unfortunately, it's hampered a bit by the jam-induced shortness. The gimmicks weren't quite explored fully, I felt. In addition, I think the spells played it a bit too safe, opting for abilities that are very familiar from other needle games. I would love a longer game that threw in some more unique powers!
One of the highlights of the game is attention to detail. I found a few easter eggs, and the little jokes added to the experience. Furthermore, the visuals are very polished, making the spell system seem very intuitive.
Overall, a short but sweet needle game with a clever concept. Definitely recommended to gimmick needle fans.
