rating based on medium mode.
a beginner fangame that took me under ten minutes. in my opinion, it's a nice step up from i wanna love the winter 2 in terms of increasing difficulty ever so slightly while maintaining the shockingly high production value. in the end, i think the game was unfortunately too short and too easy to make it enjoyable beyond a pleasant ten minutes. it's truly a lovely experience that everyone should enjoy, but i almost feel the painstaking effort put into the game's aesthetics prevented it from becoming a more substantive novice introduction.

my first avoidance clear. [difficulty based on a medium clear, which took me slightly over half an hour] in my opinion, a really nice avoidance for beginners, with two exceptions.
let me start with the good stuff first. clever maiden is a cute, beginner-friendly avoidance that introduces a number of common attack styles to the player. i shy away from the word "generic" here as i've played so little avoidance that nothing is generic to me yet, which i think is a good thing to keep in mind for fellow beginners.
i have two qualms with this avoidance. the first is that what feels like at least a third of its runtime is spent on a single firework attack that is incredibly easy to avoid. this made replaying the avoidance somewhat tedious because there are two separate 30-second stretches of this attack where the player can almost always stand still. my other issue is that there is an attack right before the final that hits well above the general difficulty level--i could not figure out how to read this properly, and i feel that both times i passed it were from sheer luck.
other than that, i found this avoidance a fulfilling way to spend around half an hour, and i'd highly recommend it to beginners.

my very first fangame. played on medium mode.
an adorable, beginner-friendly game with charming custom visuals. the game looks wonderful and is fun to play despite my clearing it in under half an hour. my one warning to newer players is that compared to some of the other fangames i've seen suggested to beginners [e.g. little runner, 100 trials], this game is significantly easier. it almost feels like *too* soft of an introduction to fangames, as high as its production value may be.
i think that the best step up from this is i wanna jerryfish based on what i know of so far, but i am obviously extremely new to this whole fangaming thing :)
overall, an enjoyable experience, but not one i'm sure i'll remember much of in six months.
