Apparently this game was made in one month. I don't know how MattinJ did it but wow is this guy good.

This is a really high quality metroidvania-style fangame. You venture and backtrack throughout a small but well-designed map as you collect items which let you traverse deeper within them. The platforming is really fun and the factor of having health makes boss fights more enjoyable as well. The game isn't that short either, it's a solid one and a half to two hour long game if you don't try to rush beating it.
The humor of the game is also great, I feel like that is an aspect that should be acknowledged.

There was a part which hardlocked me. When you first become small, I tried to go back to the town and I ended up dying while saved between two of the grass blocks you cut with your sword. When I respawned, I was locked between them and was stuck being small. This led me to finding out a bug in the game, when you press New Game it doesn't actually start a new game, the chests reset but you are just sent back to the start with all your stuff. So I was stuck in the Kid's house and had to delete the Data file. This issue only cost me like 6 minutes of time so it was not a big deal but I am surprised it happened.

Either way, this is a really fun metroidvania-inspired fangame that is really well designed, some parts are better than others, but overall really well-made game, especially for a development time of a singular month.

What a great game this is. Made in just one month too, this is essentially a little adventure that takes your gun away and replaces it with a variety of mostly melee weapons. A lot of the sprites are taken from 'Maple Story' which gives a cute little vibe to the whole affair. The change in weaponry opens up a lot of fun opportunities to play with the tropes and expectations from fangames.

It's clear that the game didn't have enough time to get completed to the extent that MattinJ intended, with for instance a boss that is already defeated by the time you arrive , but for what it is this an excellent little game that pushes the genre in exciting directions. A must play.

Pretty solid adventure game, it's got a cool overworld in which you explore and collect items, kind of like a blend between a metroidvania game and zelda-like combat, it's decently fun although there's a few gripes, like some questionable hitboxes and the final area I think was a bit weaker than the rest of the game. Besides those, it was a pretty solid time, and definitely felt like a true adventure!

This is a mostly fantastic game, that manage to truly feel like an adventure in a way most adventure fangames don't. With items, health, metroidvania aspects, a shop, and more, this feels like a game you played on your Nintendo DS when you were a kid. The gimmicks are cool, the items are fun, and the graphics are phenomenal.

Unfortunately, this game is dragged down severely by the final boss. The other bosses are weak points, but are simply unmemorable. The final boss however, is actively unpleasant and infuriating to play against. The boss can only be damaged on the face, except the hitbox is nonsense and half of the face randomly doesn't take damage. Sometimes two attacks that felt like they hit the exact same spot would have different outcomes. Most of the fight requires using the axe item, which has a horrible limitation of only having one on screen at a time. Sometimes you'd throw an axe that would phase straight through her face, and then you couldn't attack until the axe took seconds to arc up and fall down off the screen. Some attacks have opportunities to use your sword, which does way more damage and makes the fight way faster. However, the only spot you can hit with the sword is where the bullets are spawning, so you get punished just for trying. Furthermore, the boss's attacks have wild uncontrollable knockback, and you get like one i-frame, so a single projectile will often hit you 2 or even 3 times, halving your health instantly. This bossfight is one of the most unenjoyable fights I've ever played, especially in a game where everything else is of such high caliber.

Knight in shining armor is a pretty good game. I don't really remember it that much, given that I'm writing this review months after I initially played the game, but I think this is kind of an improvement over Kiduija... Even though this was released a year prior.

Kiduija has some more production value, but the gameplay suffers, and Knight in shining armor is, I believe, a suitable level of difficulty.

I don't really feel like narrating the entire game, or something like that, so just keep in mind that if you like adventure games and are around the skill level for this game, you should probably play it.
