In my opinion, the best way to enjoy Kamilia 2.
People might complain that some skips are removed, but that's not by design, that's the engine being changed. There are some genuine complaints to be had, but I still enjoyed this remake much more than the original game. That being said, there's still problems, but I think the game is much better this way.
This review will spoil the changes that I noticed, this is in no way a full comprehensive list of all changes but it is everything I noticed on a first playthrough.
First impression: There's achievements, which is always nice because I am an achievement hunter and doing well and being rewarded feels good.
The engine is different, so you can't do certain tricks like load jumping or ceiling jumps, which skip segments of the game especially in stage 6 and M stage.
This change I didn't like much, Influka is buffed by having more health so you can't skip an attack (God). While I personally didnt struggle on it it's kind of a dick move to force the player to go through every attack a boss has just to remove quick kills, even if they're easy to achieve.
Stage 5 screen 1 is nerfed, which I found to be an odd choice. It was quite difficult but it wasn't harder than PYF in my opinion, which remains unnerfed.
I think a 2 frame got removed in the slope screen in stage 5, which is always nice.
Stage 5 rainbow mikus bullshit ending is nerfed, which makes my rating go up by at least 0.5, because screw that ending in the original, seriously.
Solgryn phase 2 is buffed, as the skip is removed: This harps back to my quick kill removal point but here it's more justified because it was a bug that allowed this, not fast shooting. The last phase is the easiest anyway so it's okay.
Stage 6 Crimson can't be skipped anymore, which technically I've mentioned already but I feel like it bears mentioning because it makes stage 6 quite a bit lengthier.
Stage 6 Seven trials has been nerfed quite a bit in parts, I feel like it was overdone though, some of the saves I feel were butchered.
Stage 6 speed screen save 2 was buffed, which is the hardest save in the screen already, so I'm not really sure why it was.
Nue has been changed quite a bit, and I used to dislike the change but it makes the boss more fun in my opinion after rebeating with these changes.
Big kid chase has a different ending, which i found to be quite awkward. The original is harder but it incentivizes holding left, this one has kind of a weird nerfed diamond motion into a diagonal, where you stop for a second. It's fine, but the original is probably better here.
M-stage's upside down menu skip got patched, which only has two applications in the game anyway so it's not a big change, still. On that topic, you can't do any of the M stage skips anymore so you have to play all of it.
M-stage's double corner save got nerfed substantially, thank god.
Kamilia phase 1 became more fair, retaining the same difficulty, by being kind enough to have more clear cues of what's going to happen, small QoL things like solgryn's side beams not instantly killing you, etc.
Kamilia phase 2-3 have been completely overhauled, and I enjoy the changes a lot. I love phase 2 being a mix of the old phase 2 and phase 1, while still somehow being really fun with many situations that don't really get boring at least to me. Phase 3 is really thrilling and original, and I enjoyed my time with it. I fluked phase 4 from there so yay.
I haven't played Extra so I can't say what's in there.
So the remake isn't perfect, but long term it certainly improves some aspects. It could've done with making some of the problem fights, namely geezer a bit less boring, but it is what it is and it's definitely better than the original Kamilia 2, despite being a slightly easier clear. Recommend playing this one instead of the original.

As for the game itself, I found it to be well rounded experience, aside from some parts like Big Kid and the chase and the last save of lovetrap.
As for being a remake, I'm kind of disappointed that it never took the full opportunity to work on my problems I had with K2. The horribly boring introduction and very hard to learn avoidance at Geezer is still there and I am annoyed by the fact that the Big Kid chase still has the cheap placement of traps.
But putting aside that, I do recommend playing this instead of the original if you can as it removes most of the bugs of the original, not to mention that the 2nd phase of the final boss looks better for me compared to the previous.

When you start the game with a bug or something, a window saying "time data invalid!" appears and you can not play the game
You can't erase the data because it appears before you come to the title screen.
