Rating based on True Final Boss Clear
What stands out to me is how huge this game is, the amount of variety and production put into this. It has support for custom kid skins, replays, achievements, leveling up, buying items to help with certain sections and so on.
Platforming is fun barring the save and section here and there. Every stage and even secret brings a new gimmick with a lot of these gimmicks being very creative and enjoyable.
Production-value is mostly good, though I would argue some segments don't look good and some segments have too much going on visually.
I honestly found the bosses to be some of the better parts of the game. Attack design is pretty good, though they're for the most part projectile based. There's a lot of gimmicks and ideas happening during bosses too and I appreciate that.
A few of the bosses do drag on for quite a while, final boss, "funny", and true final boss phase 1 felt like they were too long and had learny endings too, making for somewhat frustrating experiences.
Some of the problems I have with the game are:
A lot of the screens don't have solid borders which is annoying since you then don't know if you will die or be taken to the next screen by going there. This also applies to a lot of the bosses and yeah no, that's really bad.
The bosses also need more sounds. Nearly all attacks have no noise when happening, which made them feel much quiter and lacking than they otherwise would. More sound effects would help this game a lot.
I would recommend this game to a lot of people, though I can understand not really getting into it considering the beginning of stage 1 is a bit weak and uninteresting. There's a lot to find and enjoy in this and I appreciate the hell out of the massive understaking that this game must have been to make.
