This is a puzzle game about matching keys to doors, based on I Wanna KeyPick 100. It's got a wide array of strange mechanics which play on the core concept, as well as many puzzles spread out over a lot of different worlds. It might be very difficult, though, so be careful not to beat yourself up over it.

Note: The game is not completely finished yet, to the extent that the content that currently exists constitutes the "first part" of the game, with the second part yet-to-be-made. This is because the remaining content will take far more time and effort than everything else that has been made thus far. Despite being incomplete in theory, though, there is a great amount of content and expected playtime, and Part 1 can be considered a complete game in and of itself.

I hope you enjoy it.

Absolutely amazing.

My review doesn't change with the update, the game is even better now that it isn't a demo anymore.

[If you haven't tried Lockpick yet because it says it's a demo then I would highly encourage you to. The game has plenty of content and a natural ending point. It's also the sort of puzzle game that should be easy to pick up and get into the groove again once it's fully released, if that's of any concern.]

Lockpick is a full on puzzle game disguised as an IWBTG fangame. The difficulty exclusively comes from the puzzles, as there is no way to die and you come equipped with both Undo and Restart keys. In regards to that difficulty, I'd put it on par with the likes of 'Baba is You' or 'A Monster's Expedition'. I don't believe you can equate that to a delfruit rating, and as such I'll be leaving mine blank.

If you're a fan of puzzle games that sometimes leave you stuck for significant amounts of time, only to finally have that *aha!* moment and reach the solution, then you'll enjoy Lockpick. This goes for anyone, even those who have never touched a fangame before. Genuinely a lovely experience, I'm greatly looking forwards to the full release.

Watson please have there be a controls menu in the final release I'm begging you

Yes, you saw that right, it's a 10. Finally, there is a fangame which was so insane that it shook my rating scale into giving it the same rating as Timemachine 2 (and soulless now), it only took 9 years.

Anyways, talking about the game, where do you even begin? With the full release finally arriving, it mindblew EVERYONE. The new features push the game to a completely different level, compared to demo, which already was the best puzzle fangame, but now it's PERFECT.

With so much new content, rating isn't the only thing to increase, since the difficulty also increased A LOT, conquering the title for new "hardest puzzle fangame". As someone who beat horizon, I can say that while that game clearly has harder platforming, I'm now confident that same wasn't true for the puzzle part. Rating difficulty for lockpick, I'm just gonna quote one of horizon reviews with a bit edititng "the solver has outdistanced the human race, and then the creator has outdistanced the solvers". I'm not even one of those insane solvers, so I had to look up like 10% of the game to reach 100% completion. In particular, the part which really made me raise the difficulty is Kina's masterpiece. Like, I even found just mimicing the movements of a solve difficult, and before that would've been possible someone actually had to SOLVE that... wtf??? Not to mention I also wasn't able to solve the other big room puzzles by myself, except for epilogue. Shoutouts to stable loop being my favorite part of the game. . So yeah, difficulty wise, I'll give 100% of the game a 92, but if you're playing blind, the game is literally 95+ last tis of puzzle games, funny how horizon is nowhere close to that.

And for the last thing to talk about, I just want to mention the existance of lore and dialogs in general, which certainly give the game an even better atmosphere. Words, in fact, help with "setting the stage" so to say. Oh right, there's also a lot of quality of life settings! The big examples are colorblind options and unlock everything. But then come the HUGE one: pencilmark system. Did you ever have to draw the solution to puzzle in paint to make sense of it? Well, now you can do that in the game instead, much better, right?

Thanks Watson, you made the perfect puzzle fangame. The Lockpick is real.
