UPDATE 6/25/22: Made it so you can't save as dotkid (fixes softlocks), nerfed 2 jumps in the entire game. I don't want to ever touch this game again unless I am literally forced to.
I’m so mad at myself that this game isn’t better.
This is a 38 screen gimmick needle game I made throughout 2020 and early 2021. I stopped working on it because I hated myself. I decided to release it now because I have no intention of finishing it.
After NNB1 released, I became incredibly self-conscious over the fact that my stage was one of the most forgettable ones in my own collab. I wanted to create a solo game to show that I was a good maker. You can see me slowly finding my style throughout the development of the game. Overall, I still don’t like this game much, but I’m happy I made it, and I’m happy I no longer have to think about it.
You probably will not like 1-2 stages but enjoy the rest well enough.
My next solo game will be significantly better than this. Look forward to it

I though this game was a great flow of several gimmicks all packaged into one game and it handled them well. But because there is so many gimmicks you have to play though, there are bound to be some screens you may not like due to preference. I have a few screens that I wasn't a fan of like the Dandy and Space High Jump. But you might like those screen anyways and I can say that I can deal with these screens fine, which is hard for me to say about other great games that have some stinker screens.
I would give this a try and see how far you get with all the wild mechanics to dodge spikes.

Disconnect is a really neat needle game that serves as an exploration of several different styles, typically inspired by a different fangame. The game is really a showcase of a creator working to branch out, and try to find their style, and it really shows. The game gets better as it goes along, showing Near growing tremendously as a developer.
I think the biggest casualty of the game being unfinished is the difficulty balance. There is a decent difficulty curve, but a few stages serve as spikes. This wasn't too big an issue for me, but it's something to be aware of.
There are a few standout stages. I really like the portal stage, the VoVoVo maze, the Vandal/bounce blocks stage, the low grav stage, and the final stage (and probably more I'm forgetting). The weak stages for me are the catharsis water one towards the beginning, and dotkid. I didn't hate these, I was still having a pretty good time, but they felt noticeably weaker.
Overall, an easy recommendation. It's not without its flaws, but they often make it feel like a unique experience, watching the developer grow as the game went on. This game is a must-play for fans of light gimmick needle.
