The game is basically a collection of short "experimental" stages where everything is annoying in some ways. Here a short list of what I disliked : the first stage has some of the most tedious gimmick use I've played, the second stage is trigger needle where you need to die on every trigger, the fourth stage is a way too long one save stage, game has crappy transition screen kills, the b/w and autojump stages has huge shit in the foreground, and the memory stage was not fun.
For what I liked hum, I guess the triple jump stage is the only one really enjoyable (but also the shortest sadly), and the game has a very unique atmosphere but that's not enough to make me like the game. Experimental games like this one have become more common the past years and they are always suffering from being really hit or miss considering the nature of the game, which is not necessarily a bad thing but I guess it didn't hit for me this time. I rewrote that part of my review which mentionned "going too hard on artistic vision in detriment of the gameplay" because even if it ofc wasn't a criticism about trying new things and convey feelings and stuff, people go mald about that kind of stuff as if it was untouchable. I'll let the last part of my review because it's still something I believe in.

At least 2 reviews have been made just after mine as an answer, the fact that people in this community can't understand that others can have different opinions than their still baffle me. I of course have nothing against the maker, it's just my opinion on one game and if it's what others like to play then why do you actually care about what I'm saying? Won't go too deep on this, I already mentionned it countless times and dropped the hope that it would somedays change, just wanna say that a good part of my 11yo students are more mature than a big part of the people I interacted with there.

If you put enjoyement and gameplay above the rest for a game then please try this one out. If not, then please try this one out.

A work of soul presented in a much more approachable manner than most other works that have released recently. Extremely creative design ideas and platforming that knows what its own limits make for a very satisfying journey. Aesthetically beautiful (if a bit hard to look at at times, admittedly), and a great sonic palette to jam out to along side it. And above all you are valid; thank you for making this.

It's great to know that needle can still be fun for me. It really is.

It starts with something pretty enjoyable, then just throws a long-save stage not fun nor interesting to your face which suddenly ruins the gameplay experience.

Good short light-gimmick needle on the easier side. Simple gimmicks that we've already seen without really treading new ground, but it's solid, fun, and accessible. There are several funny moments already mentioned by other reviewers, but they don't detract from the overall experience in my opinion.

After first clear, you get to try your hand at beating each stage deathless; 1 is relatively easy, 2 are challenging but reasonable, while the last one is probably going to be a Moment. Nonetheless, they're fun to attempt so long as you do not intend on seriously grinding them down.

Song choices are good, and alongside simple-yet-effective visuals invoke a strong (although not fully immersive) atmosphere.

I know I've said little about this game compared to my usual inflated reviews, but it really is what it is: A well designed, short & fun accessible version of an amalgamation of new wave gimmick needle. Would definitely recommend.
