Metaphor is an amazing Adventure game with a focus on Traps and Needle-centric platforming. It's genuinely one of my favorite classic style fangames and was truly enjoyable from start to finish.

The game is really split into two separate styles, and it flips between these two pretty often. The first involves saves that feels exactly like a trap game, and although they're sometimes basic, it's almost always pretty funny. The second style takes a more Needle approach to things, and these usually do not have traps for you to worry about. This becomes the formula for six separate stages, each concluding with a boss. Past these is also a final avoidance which is pretty fun and climactic as well.

There are a lot of interesting things in this game, from special traps where you need to dodge spikes, to slight gimmick usage with springs, and a section that uses screen wrapping. I really thought each stage was pretty unique and offered a good bit of variation throughout the game. The bosses also helped provide a common theme throughout the game, which made it feel like a true journey.

Streamer/NSFW Warning: In the Megaman tileset stage there is a hole you can fall down after a column raises up. This takes you to a screen with naked anime girls in the background showing, be warned.

I would definitely recommend playing Metaphor, it's a really solid game that a lot of people might not have played before, so give it a try!

For: I wanna challenge 100 trials!!
Challenge 100 Trials is the very first fangame I played, and I remember it being a pretty fun time. Unlike most 100-floor games on the easy side, there's actually a bit of substance in this one, and the visuals are actually cute.

I think for a Beginner fangame, it accomplishes its job pretty well. There's a gradual increase in difficulty as the game goes on, it's never extremely boring, and there's a bit of challenge for beginners to deal with later on. I do think though that the next to last boss is a bit tedious to fight, I struggled quite a lot on it originally. I don't recall much of an issue with the final boss like everyone else seems to mention, it was my first game so it didn't really seem boring to me at all. On a side note, I find it cool how the game has secret Speedrun paths in it that lets you walk through walls and whatnot, it's pretty neat.

Overall, I think this is a solid first fangame to play and would recommend it strongly to beginners. Regular fangamers however may want to steer away, it's definitely meant for new players.

I wanna be the I is a very special adventure game to me, as it maintains both the classic adventure style while also experimenting with some unique ideas. I had quite a lot of enjoyment from it, and definitely consider it one of my favorite older fangames.

The structure of the game is laid out as a Hub with 5 stages, each of them having a unique theme and boss at the end. One of them is a Bad Apple stage, another styled after Mega Man. There's a needle stage where the lights flicker on and off, and there's a stage where the objects change sizes to be small, normal, and large each screen. The fifth hub stage is a single long save with some funny moments in it. After beating each stage, you unlock the finale to the game, which has a pretty neat gimmick in which the Kid has been downgraded to single jump and must obtain shards in order to "upgrade" himself. They're spread out across a large screen and each set you collect saves your progress and allows you to collect a new set in further reaches.

The bosses are also usually fun and feel like pretty active fights, though two of them can be a bit of a pain. There's one boss in particular in the Mega Man stage that can be a bit tedious to fight, but he can easily be overcome by discovering a pattern. The final boss was honestly underwhelming compared to the rest, and might actually be the easiest of them all. Also, special shoutouts to the Penguin boss for being a bunch of fellas and giving me good RNG first try.

It is clearly a great classic that is worth some attention. I would definitely recommend it to adventurers who enjoy older styles.
